When I try to open a folder or hard disk icon that's on my desktop the whole desktop flashes on and off and no folder or hard disk will open. This flashing on and off last about 20 seconds then everything stabilizes. I can open applications from the dock but cannot open

| Insomnimacbook pro | 09 Nov 2006 09:38 GMT | 2 |
For some reason, my MBP has stopped going to sleep when the lid is closed. Console logs don't show any powersaving events (such as when you forcibly sleep it). Is there likely to be some corrupted preference file that causes this behaviour? It still seems to do it

Anyone know what might cause the OS X installation migration process to freeze - in my case at 20 minutes to go? I left it sitting there for a couple of hours and tried repeating it with an alternative Firewire cable.
