Encrypted backups09 Nov 2006 19:38 GMT5
I'm using FileVault to encrypt my home directory, and I want to backup
the entire encrypted home directory to an external HDD periodically.
I'm currently using Chronosync which works well, but copies the
unencrypted files over.
cheapo wireless card09 Nov 2006 18:07 GMT6
I've just bought a DabsValue PCI 802.11g card for a friend's PC, and

MacOS. So, for about £12 + postage, that might be useful info to
someone.
AQA Examining and Mac OS X09 Nov 2006 17:53 GMT9
I've lost the original post from my news reader, which I think was about
whether it was possible to be an AQA examiner using a Mac.
This morning I asked a couple of work colleagues who do this kind thing
about their experience. (I've never understood why anyone does this

quark 7 v indesign09 Nov 2006 13:05 GMT36
does anyone have any opinion between quark 7 and indesign ? My only
worry is getting the output printed. I read that indesign can output
print quality PDF files that I can take to any printer to print ?
What do the Pros think ?

HELP - Finder problems in OS 10.3.809 Nov 2006 09:45 GMT13
When I try to open a folder or hard disk icon that's on my desktop the
whole desktop flashes on and off and no folder or hard disk will open.
This flashing on and off last about 20 seconds then everything
stabilizes. I can open applications from the dock but cannot open
Insomnimacbook pro09 Nov 2006 09:38 GMT2
For some reason, my MBP has stopped going to sleep when the lid is
closed. Console logs don't show any powersaving events (such as when
you forcibly sleep it). Is there likely to be some corrupted
preference file that causes this behaviour? It still seems to do it

Anyone know what might cause the OS X installation migration process to
freeze - in my case at 20 minutes to go? I left it sitting there for a
couple of hours and tried repeating it with an alternative Firewire
cable.
Mac spotting: WWE08 Nov 2006 23:50 GMT6
Well, not really spotting a Mac as such, but an obvious representation
of such...
Last night on WWE's pay-per-view, they had giant mock ups of an iMac and
Mac Pro.  If you thought the 24 inch iMac was big, this was more like 24
