Vanishing wireless / approaching neighbour for friendly piggyback10 Nov 2006 20:50 GMT43
A two-part question, this.
I've temporarily moved in with my girlfriend's parents, so no more
broadband (though digging out the old graphite ABS means I can get
wireless dialup, woohoo).
Gathering addresses in Mail or Thunderbird10 Nov 2006 19:42 GMT3
A couple of my email accounts have died (with regards sending mail)
and I want to find out which websites/people I've had email from on

idisk problem10 Nov 2006 18:40 GMT1
I am trying to get in to the software folder on my idisk (mac account)
and it says library, software folders etc are only available when my
idisk is online - please connect to the internet and try again.
The thing is I am online and this is happening on two machines I am using.
Keyboards (notes, not characters)10 Nov 2006 15:53 GMT69

worked well as a controller keyboard (as well as having its own sounds).
Valuation please 15" PB10 Nov 2006 15:21 GMT1
Got a 12 month old 15" PB 1.67ghz with 80gb HD 512ram Superdrive all the
boxes manuals with 2 years left on the Apple support and I need to flog it.
What is a reasonable price for this?
Cheers
Ethernet/Router question10 Nov 2006 14:17 GMT7
If I unplug my ethernet cable from my iMac and plug it into my iBook, I
won't have to do any sort of port/firewall etc fiddling will I with the
router?
Or could I buy an ethernet 'splitter'?
Trivial but curious (MSN)10 Nov 2006 13:32 GMT44
This isn't a  big hassle but it has got me intrigued....
For the past week or so the first time I sign in to MSN it rejects the
password.  The second time always gets accepted.  Now although my
typing skills are awful, I can't believe that I make a mistake EVERY

Any tips to speed it up?
Switching from mail to news or vice versa or switching newsgroups takes
minutes and minutes.
It's virtually unusable.

Alternative (non Intel) Mac?10 Nov 2006 09:53 GMT30
So we bought the Intel Duo Mini in readyness for her potential career
in Graphics.
She's not really using it at the moment and the app she has tried and
likes particularly is GarageBand but according to the good folk on

Weird folders in ~/Library/Preferences10 Nov 2006 00:14 GMT1
It's got many folders that have a few odd characters as names: '√L, for
example.
There are loads of different ones, and they're empty (apparently).
Anyone else noticed this?
