System font is all crappy13 Nov 2006 14:47 GMT-
Just bought a new iMac. The font used to display things like the list
view looks corrupted - rather like dodgy dot-matrix font. I tried
setting up a new user account and it worked fine. So then I deleted the
offending account and re-created it (and copied the Library across) and

Misc Questions...13 Nov 2006 09:38 GMT39
Greetings.  I have a few questions I need answered.  I hope you all can
answer them for me...
1. I have a iTunes Library on a iBook G3.  I backed it to my iPod so I can
transfer it to my iMac.  No go. It says I have a problem.  Please advise.
USCM Mini-meet - Woody and Nige13 Nov 2006 09:27 GMT49
Never met the bloke before, but this weekend Woody and I take to the
stage, and I am really bloody looking forward to it ... despite fumbling
the song we are playing together one out of every two times I play it.

Safari on dual G5 1.8 -very- slow13 Nov 2006 09:26 GMT6
I'm having an odd problem with Safari on my G5 - clicking on a link can
take at least two seconds to open it, often around six. As soon as I
click CPU usage shoots up to near 100% on one CPU at least, often near
100% for both CPUs. I have no such problem with the Intel version of ...

The Danger of DRM
The market for digital music was repressed for nearly a decade prior to
the arrival of Apple's iPod. Here's why digital music languished for so
long, how Apple was able to build a digital business, and why rivals
Mac Spotting - Sky at Night13 Nov 2006 02:46 GMT13
Dear All
What a program. I was riveted - ages since I have seen it!
Just how long has Patrick Moore being presenting the show?
Oh, yes - the Venus stuff was on a 15" Al PowerBook I reckon.

Using DVD Player on DVD driveless G3 iMac12 Nov 2006 19:18 GMT11
Apologies if this appears twice - my ISP's news is on the blink.
I'm attempting to use an iMac G3 600 10.3.9 to play an NTSC DVD, but
the
machine has no DVD drive.
Is the internet broken?12 Nov 2006 17:17 GMT2
I have a problem with a .com domain. One of my friends foolishly
responded to one of these scammy domain registrars who make it look like
they are the domain registrar and would you like to renew.
The registrar (CGSInfotech aka Cyberwebglobal) has no control panel
use widescreen with G4?12 Nov 2006 17:10 GMT3
I was thinking of getting a Xerox XM3-19W Widescreen TFT Monitor, or
alternative brand, for my Mac G4. But will these widescreen displays
work with the mac? Am I likely to need to also buy an adapter, or is it
likely to be a standard fit?

Software to help me manage my free/busy time12 Nov 2006 09:46 GMT7
I work for around 10 different customers on and off - mostly for 1 or
two days at a time, then a gap until next time. Managing my time, and
particularly making allowances for business development and speculative
work, is getting more and more complicated. At the moment I manage (for
