Happy happy happy - FF219 Nov 2006 21:16 GMT19
Just installed Firefox 2. What an improvement to the GUI - it doesn't
feel like a Linux app any more! And they've put close boxes on the tabs
at last.

I have a .avi video file, from which I need to extract a short clip (to
put in iDVD).
The movie won't play in QuickTime PLayer - I get sound, but no video. It
plays OK in VLC. It's an MPEG Layer 3.
Wrong Finder Icons19 Nov 2006 14:01 GMT4
Once or twice lately I've noticed files in Finder windows (icon view)
appearing with incorrect icons. This morning, for example, a saved
Tex-Edit Plus file appeared with an MP3 icon. (It had had a Reunion icon
before, but I've set Tex-Edit Plus so that it applies its own icon when

about a minute after I start it up, due to it beachballing.  I have
since rebuilt the thumbnail cache, but it has made no difference.
Any help appreciated; this is on a revA Intel iMac.
Stubborn Playlist19 Nov 2006 11:49 GMT-
I have an iTunes(7) playlist which will not let me rearrange the tracks
in it. It has to be alphabetical, no matter which column is highlighted,
even if I rebuild it from the library track by track. All the other
playlists are ok. Can anyone suggest a cure?

Another trick to get rid of false 'in use' files.18 Nov 2006 23:42 GMT1
Some files in the trash refuse to be trashed
because they (falsely) claim to be busy.

Transfer iTunes library18 Nov 2006 15:29 GMT4
I have a new Macbook on order and will want to transfer my iTunes library
from my mini to the Macbook.
IIRC there's an option on first boot to transfer settings from one Mac to
another. I don't want to transfer everything, just iTunes. Can this do it?
