another word on the subject of Belkin....23 Oct 2006 10:00 GMT-
.... the safety fuse popped in a local thunder/lightning storm last Tuesday,
in our 'surge protector'.
I quickly removed all connections, went and bought another another one,
as we would never use all the stuff without one, for long anyway.

Locking a pen drive22 Oct 2006 23:35 GMT12
I've got a 512MB pen drive.  Is there a way to password lock it? I
think some of them come with Windows software that can do it but can't
find a Mac utility. I bet there's a simple answer I haven't thought of.
Any ideas?
iPhoto Duplicates22 Oct 2006 23:14 GMT12
I seem to have made a complete hash of my iPhoto library at some point
(moving between computers) and now have six copies of every photo.
iPhoto reports 5060 photos.
The original (2 MB) and two others of the same size with _1 and _2 appended;
Queer?22 Oct 2006 19:38 GMT7
Just playing with the eMac and noticed something very queer re the
mouse.
It will work ok on pretty well any surface *except* the eMac user
manual! (and that's plain white on the back) <shrug>
Parallels - can't use a network drive for installation22 Oct 2006 18:32 GMT7
Bit of a disappointment here. A bit short of disk space on the MacBook
Pro, but I'd like to install a Vista beta/RC/whatever to see what the
fuss is about. I hook up to gigabit ethernet o speed isn't a problem,
select the location for creation of a virtual drive and...and...
Google We're sorry...22 Oct 2006 16:39 GMT5
Has anyone ever seen the following page when they try to search using
Google? I've got it a few times today.

DTT viewers: buy now or at Works Outing?22 Oct 2006 16:05 GMT-
So, simple question.  Will the prices of the EyeTV/TVMini things at the
expo be cheap enough to warrant waiting until then to buy one?
Oh, and could someone please record Torchwood for me tonight :-D
Is there a PodDiff?22 Oct 2006 12:33 GMT2
I have 3 computers (one of which is a PC) that have iTunes libraries,
and 2 iPods that have my choons on them.
Is there a program that can tell me what tracks I have on iTunes that
aren't on the iPod, or aren't on another iTunes library?
New eMac, 10.2.2 now .8, 128 now 512M ;-)22 Oct 2006 11:27 GMT9
Yo,
Because of you lot, I bought a 17" eMac today <why??>.
The idea was to take it straight to my mates PC shop (where it was to
be left on long term loan as an additional Net browser etc) from it's
Works outing- dinner time22 Oct 2006 09:33 GMT35
I've ordered the restaurant. They say on the night they can do any
combination of mild/hot (that's normal)/veggie, to order.
I've said we would be there around 1900. The reasoning goes like this:
it gives us a reasonable time at the show and for a pub afterwards, but
Seems I'm not alone22 Oct 2006 06:15 GMT7
Heard an interesting thing at work today - another guy working there
has a MacBook Pro, and he's suffered hard drive failure with it. Three
times so far apparently...
Cheers,
Aperture use with a TFT and a CRT....22 Oct 2006 01:35 GMT2
My mate has just given me an LG Flatron 17" monitor to use as a
secondary display. I mainly needed it to use with Aperture, and it has
already proven to be a real boon, being able to browse images, and make
adjustments while viewing the product on a separate screen is really

IE for Mac21 Oct 2006 22:24 GMT16
Blast - my uni have 'invested' in a new bit of web software from Arc
Technology <http://www.arctech.co.uk/> [1] which requires IE - which is
not avaliable for Mac.
I emailed my uni to complain, but I don't suppose it will do any good.
