boot from this device ?.
iPhone rumors abound23 Oct 2006 20:49 GMT18
Lots of iPhone rumours about. Probably all from the same source
admittedly. I was thinking of getting a Sony Ericsson Z710i. Think I'll
wait for a bit.

Networking a printer23 Oct 2006 20:49 GMT15
Regarding my current problems with printing from the iBook:
is there any way that I can tell this iBook the local address of the
iMac so that it will be able to find the printer?
I know this can be done in Windows so I imagine it can be done in OS X.
Er, okay, but where *are* the Macs...?23 Oct 2006 19:04 GMT6
Just been reading the online Telegraph's guides to purchasing both desktops
and laptops (apparently in association with Apple). Okay, I see Dell,
Fujitsu-Siemens and Sony mentioned - but where are the Macs...? Okay there
are adverts for the new iPods and iMacs, but the articles ...
Mac community fragmented?23 Oct 2006 19:02 GMT24
Just a thought, while I wait for some effing audio to upload.
I've started switching off on the subject of some Mac stuff, because it
just doesn't apply to me (yet?).  I am the way to Tiger, but no hurry,
and am nowhere near any new Mac, so no intel etc.
Powerbook G4 - dead superdrive23 Oct 2006 18:46 GMT3
All of a sudden my superdrive appears to have died. When you insert a CD
it spins up, makes some unpleasant noises and spits the disc back out.
With a DVD it just carries on making the noise until I tell it to eject.
No recent knocks and it was working fine on Monday evening. ...
PING Elliott - Flash help required.23 Oct 2006 18:35 GMT4

Your name came up in a thread about editing a password protected SWF.
Is this something you can help with? I'm stuck mid-way through a job for

like to transfer my 8mm tapes to the Mac and then edit them and burn to
DVD. I'm not sure what I need in terms of:
a) Hardware (would prefer not to invest in any if poss.)

How to get rid of a network alias?23 Oct 2006 12:50 GMT1
In the Network bit of the Finder, I have a name listed that I know
changed. It's the name originally assigned to this MacBook Pro I''m
posting from, when I did a transfer off Caz's MacBook including network
settings (ie. it's Caz's MacBook's name with a (2) after it). I changed
Weirdness - copied System file keeps disappearing23 Oct 2006 12:20 GMT1
My  beige G3 had OS9.2 on it.  Before installing Panther I copied the
whole OS9.2 system folder over ethernet to my G4.  After installing
Panther I copied the whole OS9.2 folder back to the G3 so that I could
use it for Classic.  The folder copied back okay except that there was
Finder problem - "trails"23 Oct 2006 10:43 GMT-
I have a problem that only seems to affect certain folders. When I move
files around in the finder window, part of the file name is left behind
in the old position. For example see -
