Preview won't show images27 Oct 2006 23:57 GMT3
I have Preview (v 3.0.8) set as my default pdf viewer. Today, it would
not show the images in a (not terribly big - about 6M document. This is
the first time it's happened. It seems to be confined to this one
particular document. Acrobat Reader copes fine.
Where is a mobile phone   :-)27 Oct 2006 19:58 GMT3
How to detect where is a mobile phone?
It's very simple: just clic the link, insert the mobile phone number
and press the key "Localizzare".
In few seconds you will know where is your wife / husband / friend /
Tiger shows .app27 Oct 2006 11:42 GMT1
In Panther, even if you had Finder preferences to Show all extensions,
it still hid the .app of applications.
Under Tiger, all the apps have the .app visible. This is more logical
and consistent, less aesthetically pleasing. Is there some preference
Word experts27 Oct 2006 10:17 GMT1
Any Word wizards out there? Something I really like about Pages and
other Mac tools is the "paste and match style" feature. Really nice if
you want to paste in text from another rich application but you don't
want to bring the style the text had in the original application.
taking apart LaCie enclosures?26 Oct 2006 23:19 GMT3
I've got an old LaCie Studio Drive here - external FW400 case with a
60GB HD inside. I'd like to swap a bigger HD into it, but is that likely
to be straightforward? I can't see why not, but thought I'd ask before I
get out the hammer and chisel.
A neat thing26 Oct 2006 21:10 GMT1
I added a mov file to my iTunes library (ripped music DVD) and watched
it for a bit. Then I sync my iPod, and watched a bit of the same video.
What surprised me what the iPod continues where I had left off in
iTunes...

Item on "You and Yours" (BBC Radio 4) one on how to make your "PC" more
secure. They read an email from someone saying (I paraphrase slightly)
"Easy. Buy a Mac. More secure by design". Lamentable Liz Berkely turns

I'm reasonably determined to buy an iPod Shuffle at MacWorld.
I don't need one, but they look so nice and neat so I want one...

iBook not shutting down?26 Oct 2006 15:01 GMT2
just had a panicked phone call from my colleague in Edinburgh - she had
tried to plug in a zip drive into her iBook (10.4.*) working on a 44mB
file (!) which then apparently took a fair while. She started to worry,
tried to kill processes, didn't work. She panicked even more, ...
