The chaps at anandtech have put a cloverton chip in and it works! It appears that OS X is built from the ground up to be a multiprocessor OS. But think - do you REALLY need all that extra power?

Using "Temperature Monitor" from Marcel Bresink, I have a frequently updated readout of my Intel Core 2 1.66 GHz processor temperatures. Now using a program to convert a 2G mpg file to a DVD I'm recording temperatures as high as 79 deg. C. -- writing this note it is down to 53

I've helped a friend set up some stuff. One odd thing I noticed that in Mail, when he connects, all the messages he sent using gmail in a web browser end up in his Inbox. Is there some gmail setting which will send them to his Sent mail

I have a Fujitsu HD (20GB) last used in a Lombard, which I intended to put in an external case, but on using, via FW, it just clicks like a broken record. Are these thinsg diy repairable?

I run a leafnode server on my Mini, and when I set it up it ran very slow after just a few weeks. I was told this was due to the filesystem, and following advice in a group (possibly here) I created a 1GB disk image mounted as /sw/var/spool/news/.
