My daughters 12" PowerBook gives a "hash" symbol when she presses the £
key.
I've checked "International " settings and it's set to UK. Is there
somewhere else I need to look?

This is no longer a problem as I have taken another approach (see

is there a way to kill-file all contributors to a thread at the same
time. Very conveniently the killfile-able addresses are all in the same
thread these days and to have the ability to kf all contributors at one
