This is a recurring problem
Panther client with AFP connection to Panther server
for some reason the network connection evaporates
ie server icon no longer in finder side bar

I post anonymously on usenet. (i.e. I don't use my own internet

Ok, so now I have Aperture, and I'm very happy with it, I've spent the
last few days importing my existing photo collection (from iPhoto
mainly, and some loose ones), and reorganising them into a better
workflow.

I have a Humax PVR (Freeview, hard drive, two tuners). I would like to
transfer files from the Humac to my Mac.
There's a slow way that works on both Mac and PC, and a fast way that
currently works only on PC. One can't just connect up the Humax hard
