I've noticed that my MBP seems to run fairly cool even when closed now
(compared to the egg-frying temperature from before). Has anyone else
noticed this?

Magic packets from a distance?13 Oct 2006 00:53 GMT10
I know that you can use Magic Packets to wake a sleeping Mac...
Is it possible to do this from outside the network? Can I have my Mac
wake up when it gets a request from the outside world (ie me, trying to
get in)? Or does my Mac have to be awake to notice any incoming traffic?

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip...ep 2.  Nice shiny big MBP.  As it is,
tho, all the creative types I know in tv use Macs.  But the logo was
nice and bright and glowing and casting a soft diffused light on Matthew
Perry..... /sigh

On last night's family history program thing with Nigella Lawson, she
was using some sort of recent iMac, and a white MacBook. They had to
obscure the logo on the back of the MB, for the usual reasons.
Then the hussy spoiled it by using some ghastly Windows laptop.

ibook screen problem12 Oct 2006 22:12 GMT-
I've recently installed an airport extreme card in my ibook G4. The
card works fine but there is now a narrow (approx 4 pixels) horizontal
line running across the centre of the screen. It varies in colour
between solid black and blue/gray). I'm fairly confident that I

The 'new' PCMCIA slots on MacBook Pros12 Oct 2006 21:20 GMT2
I was thinking of getting a 3g data card (get one from work for free)
can I get one to fit in the new shaped slot? cos the old kind on the
powerbook was called pmcia and was a universal standard.
are these data cards reliable? I do a lot of travel (rail, car & air).
