Mac Expo - special offers and discounts?17 Oct 2006 00:19 GMT-
I've only been to a couple of Mac Expos in London and could not make it
to the one held last year...
The ones I had been to I was able to purchase iBooks for a slight
discount - £50-70 off the standard price.

Along with my VijAgRa rubbish, I'm being inundated with options to buy
stocks, I've tried all sorts of " content " filters to no avail,
what do you all do to junk this stuff?

in the thread direction, But.........
How many of you take up this option when buying new machines and is it
worth it?
Works outing; the recce16 Oct 2006 21:54 GMT69
Okay; Bella, Flavio and I went to the Sodere *thiopian restaurant
(Google it) in Shepherd's Bush. It's a nice place, run by very nice
people. The food was spicier (hotter) than at the Merkato, but it was
excellent. They told us that if we wanted it milder, they could do that
ntl News Server down?16 Oct 2006 21:34 GMT5
I suddenly can't access the ntl: news server using Hogwasher. I haven't
changed any settings, but ntl: insist that the server is working
properly and won't offer any other support for Mac users.
Anyone shed light on the matter?

your laptop:

Doesn't actually work on my iBook though.
Quark 7 lethargy issues. . . .16 Oct 2006 20:35 GMT3
Having used Quark 6.5 quite happily on a G4 Mini, I have now encountered
how lethargic Quark 7 is on similar hardware (even with maxed-out RAM).
I'd be grateful for comments from other users of Quark 7 as to which
Macs have proved OK, and which they have found too slow.
3 x kernel panic in a fortnight16 Oct 2006 19:48 GMT18
I haven't had this MacBook 2 months yet, but have had 3 panics in the
past fortnight requiring restart - I only had that many in the nearly 4
years with the iBook.
It is always on waking up, so I don't knoww what is going on
Video Editor similar to Vegas? (quick import required)16 Oct 2006 18:41 GMT5
I've tried imovie, avid dv and some other free video editor this
evening but they ALL take forever to import videos to the project. Can
anyone recommend a good, fast video editing program for Mac OSX that
doesn't force me to import videos to the project but rather just calls

only after I shutdown and switch on again. restarting doesn't help at
all.
Enable File Sharing via Command Line16 Oct 2006 14:37 GMT4
I'm sure a while back someone demonstrated a method of enabling
file/volume sharing on a remote OS X machine via the command line.
Have searched in the usual places and have come up short. Can anyone
remind me what the command name and syntax should be please?
The problem with Macs ....16 Oct 2006 14:04 GMT354
Is that they aren't common enough ... (in the everyday sense)?
My mate is a gardener and one of his customers is an elderly lady.
Knowing he 'knew about computers' (he is also a digital photographer
and does video editing etc) she asked him the other day to help her
iMac 17" core duo questions16 Oct 2006 13:54 GMT1
I've recently switched over to a 17" core duo iMac after being a devout
PC user for some 14 years or so. I've had my mac for about 2 weeks now
and I must say I'm amazed by it, totally. I keep digging around and
finding new features, and also a big plus for me is the way everything
TalkTalk and BroadBand Email16 Oct 2006 12:51 GMT5
Have been trying to set up the above using Eudora and/or Outlook.
The result is the same: I get password requests (although I have entered
and saved PW several times) then I get error messages.
Strangely, I can then send mail via TalkTalk BUT cannot receive any.
