Hole in my pocket10 Sep 2006 12:34 GMT10
I am in a dilemma here. I have money burning a hole in my pocket -
£1500 (plus what I would get for my i-book (G4 14.1" )
The hole in my pocket wants to be filled with a MacBook or MacBook
Pro, but which one?  Or should I hang on a while longer for the

OmniGraffle thoughts10 Sep 2006 08:13 GMT52
I've been trying out a 24 hour trial of this, as I am needing to plan
out a big thing, which will be one long linear thing with lots of bits
attached to it.
It seems good for what it does, but for me, is it 40 quid's worth of
os x newbie: partitioning?10 Sep 2006 07:48 GMT41
Still working up to a MB but wonderd about partitioning - if it was an
XP box, I'd partition the internal drive into 2 parts: one for Windows,
and the other for data, redirecting "My Documents" to the 2nd partition.
This allows a reinstall of Windows easily without wiping data.
Properly dead Mac10 Sep 2006 07:38 GMT81
My G4 iLamp died. Hard drive and logic board both toast. Thank God i was
running Apple backup and my wife also had her home directory copied onto
the mac Mini in the music room. We have restored everything to a new
machine in under 3 hours. The Apple back-up stunt was truly ...
Mac Pro and VT-x09 Sep 2006 23:35 GMT9
When I start a VM under Parallels on a Mac Pro it tells me that Intel
VT-x extensions are supported on the CPU's but disabled (locked by
Firmware).
Bugger. Hopefully this'll be enabled by a software update or in 10.5 so

I've just upgraded to OS 10.3.9
Disk utility includes a feature I haven't come across before -
Journaling - which can be activated or not.
What is it? Should I have activated?
Alleged security shortcomings09 Sep 2006 22:11 GMT2
It's an old report ‹ 25 January 2006 ‹ but I've just seen it so maybe

MacBook Pro on its travels09 Sep 2006 20:43 GMT3
Rang up Apple on Friday to find out where my replacement MacBook Pro
is. First phone call took more than twenty-five minutes, and at the end
of it the aftersales support guy still couldn't find any information at
all about having requested a replacement or where it might be. They ...

Don't know if you all know the Isle of Thanet?
Margate is the Capitol City... anyway....
a brand new Curry's just opened its doors, so I
thought I'd have a peep...

eMac IE crash problem09 Sep 2006 13:00 GMT18
I know quite a bit about all flavours of Windows and TCP/IP networking, but
my knowledge of Macs has been limited to connecting them up to Windows or
Solaris servers and sorting out the file sharing.
I've been asked to look at a Mac problem.
