Setting Mac G5 fan speeds permanently max12 Sep 2006 13:53 GMT14
Is it possible to set the fan speeds of a Mac G5 dual 1.8 to run at
maximum speed, all the time?
Fan noise is not in the slightest bit of an issue for me, but
overheating absolutely is.
Long tracks seem to rewind after ipod stops and restarts12 Sep 2006 13:08 GMT4
I use my iPod for audiobooks. Every time I pause a book, if the ipod
turns off, when it restarts, it seems to rewind to a point earlier in
the track than where I left off. Depending on the length of the track
it can be anywhere from a few seconds to ten minutes!

Okay, it's along way away but it's time to dust down the charabanc and
test the brakes for the outing to the Olympia MacExpo funfair.
Usually we meet up on the Friday, in this case October 27th. Is this
still the favourite day?
Creating RAID sets12 Sep 2006 12:14 GMT1
Righto, now I've got my disk box up and running, I want to create some
raid.
What I want is redundancy and the ability to swap more of the 9 gig
drives for 36's, as it's for storage rather than disk-intensive
ATTO U2LD SCSI Card support12 Sep 2006 11:33 GMT1
So, I found a scsi card on ebay, and a Sun 711 12-disk box. I got given
a free G4/400 (sans hdd, oh dear :-) and now I've assembled them all.
The SCSI Card is seen in Apple System Profiler's PCI Cards section, but
not in the Parallel SCSI section. Does anyone know if/where I can get ...
Fax logs in 10.312 Sep 2006 11:28 GMT-
I talked my father through sending a fax last night on 10.3, he's always
amazed when things are simple. I said, okay, you have your document, do
File/Print and he said... Oh there's a fax button. Button pressed, number
entered, fax sent.
Sync-ing Address Book & iCal to a corporate Exchange server12 Sep 2006 11:18 GMT-
My company has recently enabled Outlook Web Access on our corporate Exchange
server and, of course, one of the side effects of this is I can now
auto-sync my OSX Address Book from home.  As expected this 'Just Worked' :-)
I'm now looking at how to sync iCal to the Exchange server.  ...

Anyone used Easy Task?12 Sep 2006 10:16 GMT-
Anyone ever tried out an app called EastTask? The demo is rather
limited (but the full version only costs a tenner) and it looks like a
good To Do list manager. Just interested in your views.

OT'ish but Parallels-related: Last time there was a Windows patch?12 Sep 2006 09:52 GMT13
I'm a bit concerned about my Parallels machine. Just ran it for the
first time in two or three weeks, and it's saying that there are no
available updates for Windows.
I -know- that there are, because of this DRM update patch somewhere

But wait Brad, I'm confused...12 Sep 2006 09:18 GMT13
Sunday Times recommends laptops. They give a reasonable review to the 13"
Macbook, but have negative things to say about battery life and the shiny
screen.
For their best buy they pick a Samsung.
