Is it my imagination but......15 Sep 2006 11:12 GMT3
..are the educational prices for the MacBook higher now? And the iPod's that
are rebated are 60GB.
I'm confused:-(

Testing Leopard......Apple Developer Programme15 Sep 2006 09:44 GMT4
When Leopard comes out I'd be interested in trying out the server
version of the OS to see if it will work for me with Panther clients.
Apple don't do tryout versions of their OSen, and I don't fancy paying
out for it to try it, in case it's no use....potential wast of money.
'Little Britain' Reference on Neighbours - Do they watch that in Australia15 Sep 2006 09:19 GMT14
First off I have to say that LIttle Britain is the most overrated and
annoying piece of crap on tv
the first few shows raised a smile, but it was then repetetive..
so i was watching a very recent Oz episode (not yet on BBC - we'll see
iTunes 7: am I the only one?15 Sep 2006 09:00 GMT15
I like iTunes 7, and it hasn't eaten my hamster.  It hasn't quite
downloaded *all* of my library's album art, but I wouldn't expect that
as much of my library isn't *on* the iTMS.  Is it just me?
Setting Macbook , APExpress, DWL-122 mac address15 Sep 2006 08:47 GMT-
I'm following an Italian newsgroup about mac, which is really nice (and
full of nice people) but I guess not really technical.
I own a macbook ( I had an iBook before) and I like it.
With my iBook (with both APExtreme and DWL122) I could change my mac
Poor man's data projector15 Sep 2006 06:54 GMT24
The cheapest TFT monitors are available, especially second-hand, for
less than £100. The cheapest data projectors cost quite a bit more.
So, how about removing the panel from inside the monitor, along with the
backlight, so you have a transparent LCD panel. Then you could lay this

I hadn't seen any links to this article here and thought it might be of
interest.

I find myself in complete agreement with his dislikes but only a few of
MacBook Pro arrived15 Sep 2006 00:37 GMT1
Well, here I am typing this on my MacBook Pro 2.0Ghz, a mere month and
three quarters after initially hitting problems. I can tell the MacBook
Pro is back, because all of a sudden I'm wondering about air
conditioning again - my god these things are hotter than I remembered.
[Slightly OT] Who to ping?14 Sep 2006 22:04 GMT21
I'm writing a wee shell script to ping a remote host every {mumble}
seconds/minutes. In the event of three failures it will open a telnet
connection to my router and issue a 'reboot' command. I'm hoping this
should nicely automate getting rid of ADSL stale sessions.
iTV questions14 Sep 2006 20:15 GMT5
I'm not sure I get the market for this product.
I watched the stream and the interface looked pretty much like Front Row?
but with a few tweaks. I didn't think the graphics were that great as Steve
did.
MacPro arrived, but...14 Sep 2006 19:24 GMT6
...the SuperDrive is dead.  It spins up OK, but won't read any disk I
throw at it.  Oh well; given its a BTO I'll try to get Apple to send me
a new drive for a DIY fix.

Mac compatible photo printers14 Sep 2006 19:11 GMT9
Would like to know of some happy mac digital photographers that have used
mid ranged (cost) photo printers or dual purpose printers. Brands and models
please. Are they comparable to kiosk type ones at shopping centres or photo
stores. Tired of driving many kilometers to get photos ...
Old Laserwriters should be loved...14 Sep 2006 18:32 GMT11
Apropos absolutely nothing, I just want to say the best piece of
hardware I ever bought was my 2nd hand Laser 16/600. £100 5 years ago;
still spitting out the pages in a nonchalant way quite happily. If only
all computer kit was as hassle free, reliable and functional.
Happy Birthday!14 Sep 2006 18:06 GMT9
Today it's Elana Kehoe's turn with the cake and candles. 21 again! Happy
birthday Elana, hope you have a good one...
(uhm, is it just me or has Elana not been posting for a while?)
