iTunes 7: Album artist17 Sep 2006 16:06 GMT17
Did the Album artist field exist in previous versions of iTunes? Useful

which have the occasional guest musician credited).
Cheers,
AirPort: Would only a fool want this?17 Sep 2006 15:49 GMT2
I'm using an ABS to dial-up to Demon. I suppose this isn't
foolish, as a modem is built-in, and dialing commands are
available.
I want to ask the ABS to dial different numbers at different

Syslog host17 Sep 2006 14:07 GMT4
My LaCie Ethernet Disk Mini has triggered off some further
computer-related impatience. I want to find out why my Airport Extreme
Basestation crashes every week or so.
What's the most convenient way to get my iMac to act as a Syslog host
iTunes music on an external disk17 Sep 2006 12:15 GMT13
Once upon a time, a long time ago, I stored my music on an external disk,
so if I wanted to update the iPod I'd have to plug in the disk first. A bit
of a hassle, but it meant I freed up some disk space.
What with the new iPods (and the vast capacity of the spensif one) I'm

Any reason why  Option-Command-O-F  would  not start up in Open Fimware

Locked home directory?17 Sep 2006 09:29 GMT15
Just posting this to the correct group this time :)
I use FileVault on my home directory on my G5 and MBP. For some reason
in the last few weeks the G5 has started showing a little padlock on the
icon for my home directory in finder and I find that I can't make any

I cannot find anything about this on the interweb, on Apple's support
pages and the people at my local Apple shop didn't know what it was
either.

iTMS / iPod album art problem.17 Sep 2006 05:38 GMT7
I bought an album (actually a boxed set) from iTMS last month. For less
than £8 I got the equivalent of 7 original albums, plus a few other
bits and pieces thrown in.
Once copied to the iPod I decided to retag the set, rebuilding the
Disclaimer: my feelings towards gays17 Sep 2006 02:26 GMT-
I just want to state that I have been extremely open and honest about
my feelings towards gays. But hand-on-heart I can say I have never
attacked a faggot ..either verbally or phsyically (in real life) ..
Posting on here is actually great - it is an outlet for my antigay

Open up Pages (the iWork 05 version, at any rate) and create a document.
You may need tables in it.
Type "tail -f /var/log/system.log" into the Terminal. Start editing that
document.
Video signal out of range17 Sep 2006 00:25 GMT5
My son in law has a 450DP with 10.3.9 (I think) and a 21" Mitsubishi
monitor. He accidentally put it into the wrong rez in system
preferences, and now it tells him 'Signal out of range'. As it starts to
boot up he sees the apple logo all right, it's just when the prefs kick
