Finder meltdown fix25 Sep 2006 18:27 GMT1
My friend's iBook periodically flips into a state in which the processor
utilisation is at maximum, it seems slow to use, the machine gets
abnormally hot to touch, and the battery life is noticeably shortened.
When this is happening Activity Monitor reveals that the Finder is
Help with WiFi problem25 Sep 2006 18:19 GMT4
I have a real 'funny' which I just cannot figure out how to overcome....
I have a PowerBook G4 400MHz. My network socket went intermittant and so
was unreliable. Rather than pay out for a new logic board, I went WiFi.
At the time, Airport cards had just been discontinued and the ...

a few months ago I posted about this and someone offered to supply me with
the card. Does anyone still have acess to the card - apparently the dualcore

Printing with Airport express25 Sep 2006 17:11 GMT2
I have a Canon Pixma iP4200 connected to my airport express, which has
IP address 192.168.0.2 (static). From my powerbook I can print fine,
without any problems. However, from my partner's Dell laptop running XP
pro we get some problems. I've installed Bonjour for windows and it
MacBook low stocks?25 Sep 2006 17:04 GMT3

Any ideas why?

iPod as a voice recorder25 Sep 2006 16:30 GMT2
How easy is it to turn an iPod (one of the new Nanos, probably) into a
dictaphone-type voice recorder?  I assume such a thing is possible?  What
format does it record into?
In fact, can you turn one of the new Shuffles into a voice recorder?
selfridges.com25 Sep 2006 16:11 GMT6
Is anyone able to browse selfridges.com?
Using Firefox, Safari, Omniweb and Internet Explorer I get what seems to
be a subset of what I should be seeing - navigation across the top and a
few links down the side. Big blank page otherwise, unless you click one
Widget creation problem25 Sep 2006 15:30 GMT-
I would create a widget that include, with an IFRAME, a Macromedia Flex
application hosted in a local server.
The Flex application is compiled by the application server and return
an html page that include an SWF file (Flash animation).
macbook dvd burning: hardware error sense code 0x0325 Sep 2006 15:04 GMT10
Anyone seen this?  New MB with superdrive, and I've been trying to copy
DVDs for the first time.  Both Toast 7 and DVDremaster crap out part
way through the burn with the above error message.
I've tried 2 different types of non-crappy media, I've got burn proof
I don't believe it25 Sep 2006 14:48 GMT16
MacBook Pro drive. Dead again. In an entirely different machine.
So what's common then? Three things I can think of...
1.  There -is- a stick of RAM from Crucial that I moved between the two
machines. Passed all the hardware tests though.
Inverter bits25 Sep 2006 12:39 GMT1
One of my macs (15" LCD anglepoise iMac) has a sporadic problem.  Every
now and then (but not all the time), the display is very dark on
booting, though I can just about see the desktop if I look hard.
Rebooting seems to cure it, until the next time.  I suspect the

Filevault's unreasonable demands25 Sep 2006 11:09 GMT12
Um, does anyone know how I can sort this out?

I'm running 10.4.7 on a Powerbook with a 60GB hard disk - 18GB empty.
I'd like to turn Filevault on, but it is asking for more empty space -
Small network app needed25 Sep 2006 10:42 GMT4
Anyone know of a small, simple app that listens to traffic on a UDP port
and displays it? I don't want something as complex at Ethereal (or
whatever it's called this week).
My ADSL router has a facility to send its log messages in this way and
