| MacBook | 23 Aug 2006 23:44 GMT | 18 |
I was just getting the shopping in Waitrose, and came away with a loaf, a pint of milk and a black MacBook. Sadly the first one had a battery that wasn't recognised, so I got the replacement the following day. Even more sadly it is still sitting in its box at the grandmother's

| What's the normal battery charge time for a Lombard ? | 23 Aug 2006 22:51 GMT | - |
Just switched on the G3 Lombard (400 mHz, 10.3.9.) after a month away and the battery is completely flat. On the charger it is charging very very slowly - after 2+ hours it is at 33% and saying 4 hours to go to full charge.

Hey, it works without Front Row - one can just fast forward iTunes tracks - even if it is not the front most application. Great. kt.

| iTunes smart playlists - group albums? | 23 Aug 2006 22:16 GMT | 3 |
Is it possible to create a smart playlist that selects (say) 5GB of music at random, but keeps albums grouped together? If I do this I always end up with a bunch of songs 'orphaned' from their album, ie just one or two tracks off the album but not the whole thing.

| Demon Spam Filtering | 23 Aug 2006 21:52 GMT | 8 |
I seem to be receiving lots of complaints that email sent to me is not getting through. As it doesn't appear in Mail in the Trash or Junk folders I assume that the Demon Spam Filter is picking it up.

| ibook, flickering display | 23 Aug 2006 21:12 GMT | 5 |
I've had my ibook for around two and a half years, and recently the screen has started flickering, it seems as though the back light is switching on and off, or going from minimal brightness to the highest brightness, sometimes it happens a few times in a second, other times

| Illustrator Print Problem | 23 Aug 2006 17:24 GMT | - |
Sometimes Illustrator CS prints will come to a halt, or rather the paper will continue to feed etc but little or nothing is put on the paper. In the most recent case it was two thin lines. Converting the CS document to a PDF is a work-around: it always prints.

| Network home directories question. | 23 Aug 2006 16:58 GMT | 5 |
OS X server 10.3.7 I can't get network home directories to work. I think I've done everything that the manual says. But the newtwork directory doesn't get mounted (or created) and I always get a local one

| Conventional place for command-line applications? | 23 Aug 2006 16:46 GMT | 13 |
Where's the conventional place to install command-line applications so that they can be used by all users, won't get destroyed by software updates or OS upgrades, and can write to their own data files? I've downloaded and compiled an application that consists of several

| Neo Office | 23 Aug 2006 15:03 GMT | 9 |
Just installed Neo Office (OS 10.3.2). Generally quite impressed, however, it does seem to be very slow a re-writing the window and does do it repeatedly. Actually doing anything functional within the application isn't a problem but it seems very easy to trigger a window

| Another one bites the dust (or, moving to Intel ahead of schedule) | 23 Aug 2006 13:59 GMT | 29 |
My trusty old G4 Digital Audio has finally bit the dust - USB failed a while ago; a USB 2 PC card kept me going for a couple of months (but the drivers stopped the machine sleeping), but it's now totally dead. This couldn't really happen at a worse time - I was holding off for a

| Getting info from the IMDB? | 23 Aug 2006 13:59 GMT | 1 |
I'd like to get certain info from the IMDB for a given film, and append it to a file. I've already looked at IMDBHelper which doesn't want to unstuff, and a couple of widgets that do the useless task of getting safari to open a web page with your search (er, how is that quicker?)

| MacBook and Apple Studio Display 17" LCD | 23 Aug 2006 13:44 GMT | 24 |
I'm considering buying a MacBook. I currently have an Apple Studio Display 17" LCD [1] connected to the ADC port on my Power Mac G5. Am I right in thinking that, to connect the display to a MacBook, I would need both
