Small audio amp?26 Aug 2006 11:38 GMT17
Here's a thing: I've been trying to track down a physically small audio
amplifier - I'm thinking of something like a small stereo power amp with
perhaps an input attenuator/other gain control and an input that expects
`CD' levels, so I can plug it straight into the back of a Mac and ...

My Smartdisk firewire drive (which I haven't used for a while) won't

dropped. Not very far at all, and not onto a hard surface, just down
Applescript: append text to front email?26 Aug 2006 10:00 GMT-
I'm trying to write an Applescript that puts text into an email. I can
start a new email containing my required text, but I can't work out how
to append text to the front window if that window is an email being
composed. Google is surprisingly little help on this matter.
Javascript to fire off Applescript?26 Aug 2006 10:00 GMT-
I doubt that this is possible, but...
You can fire off Javascript "bookmarklets" from the bookmark bar in
Safari (to add to bookmarks, send as email, whatever).
Is it possible to get some Javascript to run an Applescript, so I can

I am moving from a place in the country with a seperate office to one in the

My dell linux server that has done well for the last year or so is a bit

'Ripping' a website26 Aug 2006 00:26 GMT41
OK, I have a legitimate business need to 'rip' a particular website for
use offline. [1]
Is there a preffered OSX tool for the purpose - I need it to go several
layers deep.
And another thing25 Aug 2006 20:12 GMT6
Doncha just hate the way NeoOffice stoopidly quits when you close the
last open document, especially when it so slow to start up?
I'll probably never be able to make a decent assessment of NeoOffice;
everytime I use it I'm already irritated that someone has decided that a
MacBook Pro - no bluetooth25 Aug 2006 18:46 GMT14
The newly returned and happily hissless MacBook Pro is not showing any
bluetooth hardware as being available, nor is the bluetooth control
panel appearing in system preferences.

Secure file sharing without OS X server?25 Aug 2006 17:15 GMT5
Well, that's about it.  I've got these 'ere Macs - one running 10.3.9,
the other running 10.4.7.  I'd like to have a secure file sharing
connection between them.
So I poked the GUI a bit - Finder, cmd-K, hit `Browse' in the `Connect
imovie idvd stage 4 long time underrun25 Aug 2006 12:52 GMT1
I have a 2gHz dual G5 running 10.3.9.  iMove and iDvd has been
working and I've burned many dvds, many well over an hour long.
Recently I've been trying to burn a could of small projects. On one
about 30 minutes long, the burn would eject (after about 3 hours) with
.ape files ? Any hope of translating to something good ?25 Aug 2006 12:43 GMT38
My son received an .ape file from a cousin over the weekend... Since
then we [i.e. me] have been trying without success to read the damn thing.
It is - apparently - a guitar & piano file recorded on a Windoze [spit]
machine which sprog is supposed to add his contribution to and ...
