Macally keyboard29 Aug 2006 12:32 GMT11
Macally keyboard - anyone used it? What's the key action like?
Yet another Apple keyboard has died on me - this time the T key has gone
dodgy, not to mention the stiff shift key and space bar.

I've been noticing recently when using altavista that when you hover
over a link the path shows as being via Yahoo...
Have they been assimilated or something even more painful ?
Mail - deleting on server29 Aug 2006 10:32 GMT5
As I use email at several locations i download mail but leave it on the
servers. In Eudora, when I trash a message and empty the trash, I can
set it to delete the message from the server next time the mailbox is
checked. I'd like to do this with Apple Mail (latest version) but ...
TiBook Woes...29 Aug 2006 10:08 GMT4
You might remember a while back I was asking about a replacement battery
for my TiBook which appeared to have died.
Well, after several consultations with the guys at Apple (Meadowhall) it
turns out that the battery probably isn't the problem.
Need help printing over Ethernet from Classic29 Aug 2006 08:42 GMT16
I've got a problem.  MacOS X 10.3.9, and an HP LJ 1320 connected via
Ethernet.
I've run the HP installer, and got the following installed into Classic:
ppds, various help files, and the HP LaserJet Utility.

Oops,
Just clicked on the Finder Icon in the dock in an effort to bring up
recently used Docs windows style.
OMG, I must be loosing it.
Well, you can dream, I suppose28 Aug 2006 20:16 GMT1
I just got an email from Apple about the Mac Pro and for a laugh
thought I would see how much it would cost to spec one up to the nines:
biggest of everything, all drive bays populated, two 30" displays, etc.
I economised on Superdrives (only one) and AppleCare (may be a false

My children are reading Artemis Fowl
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artemis_Fowl_II> so as I often do I
started readong one of the books myself last night (first impressions:
it's mercifully not of Harry Potter quality, which might seem a modest
Apple 21" Colour Display28 Aug 2006 14:22 GMT2
The picture on a very lovely Apple 21" Colour Display has shifted left
and wrapped back on itself by about three-quaters of an inch.  Having
looked at the service manual I tried adjusting the H-DC Shift control
which ran out of adjustment without correcting the problem, though
AVI files to DVD28 Aug 2006 13:46 GMT10
I have a couple of .avi files I need to put on DVD so they will play in
a regular DVD player.
I tried Toast Titanium, which took about 7 hours to encode then failed
to burn due to a Mac OS error code = 50 whatever that is.
Buying goods (e.g. MacBooks, iPods) from USA - having a 'virtual' USA address28 Aug 2006 10:54 GMT-
just googled 'usa free postal address' and this came up as a sponsored
listing:
Basically it means US companies think you are a yank and send you the
goods.
Printing a large image28 Aug 2006 10:15 GMT7

Flash player28 Aug 2006 10:06 GMT5
I have a .swf file, which is a shockwave flash file (it says).
My iG5, OS 10.3.9, tries to open it in RealPlayer, which is nonsense. I
have Macromedia shockwave installed, but what should I select to play
the .swf file if I do a 'get info'?
