The subject line is possibly misleading, but that's where I'll start.
I finally got around to being decisive and picked up a Mac mini (I've
never been to the Trafford Centre before - I quite enjoyed it).

I am looking for a basic freeware application or widget that will just
play red-book compliant audio CDs in MacOS X 10.4.7 on a G4 Mac mini.

Some option in my 'Open With' menu must be on an external drive (perhaps more
than one) as every time I right click something and choose open with, two
external drives spin up. This takes time and is annoying.
How can I find out where the apps are in the open with menu, and how ...

I noticed that /private/var/tmp on my PB (10.4.7) was well over 3GB.
Some of the files dated back to 2004 and as far as I could tell (other
than the mds sub-directory, used by Spotlight) nothing was actaully
being used.
