WWDC Software Fest?04 Aug 2006 15:53 GMT22
Does the WWDC tend to be a time when a lot of third-party developers
release new or major updates to software? As someone who is relatively
unfamiliar with Apple history, I wondered whether the timing coincides
with more interest and thus lead to a peak in releases.

Slooow file transfers04 Aug 2006 13:37 GMT4
A friend wanted to move some old files from her Wallstreet PB (OS 9.1)
to her Blueberry iMac (OS 10.3.9).  The only sensible way seemed to be
via ethernet, so I went along with a twisted cable and connected the
machines up.  After a bit of fiddling I got it to work, with the iMac
Recent folders04 Aug 2006 13:10 GMT1
Is there a way to increase the number of recent folders in the 'Go' menu (the
number of recent applications, documents and servers can be set in the
Appearance preference pane)? It seems to be limited to 9.
And why is 'recent folders' not in the same place as the other recent ...
WingNuts04 Aug 2006 12:14 GMT-
Several years after it was released, I have discovered the game
WingNuts. And what a superb game it is. I'm finding it -very-
addictive, and normally don't play games much anymore.
If people here remember Time Pilot from the arcades, it's an update of
Tiger -> server04 Aug 2006 09:52 GMT8
Can't remember if I asked this before, but can one 'upgrade' a Mac
running Tiger to OS X server without losing the contents of the HDD? I'd
like to convert my existing mini into a server, but without having to
re-install the lot.
RAID Cards for Powermacs04 Aug 2006 09:52 GMT6
The following carriage in this train of thought is - which SCSI Raid
cards work with powermacs? That do RAID5?

Which?04 Aug 2006 08:57 GMT9
I've taken out a 30-day trial of the Which website to snag some info. I
thought I'd have a nosey around before I cancel, and found these figures
which may be of interest.

And as my rent includes electricity I don't care about leaving it on
all the time.

Any developers want to work on a neat project?03 Aug 2006 20:13 GMT2
I am looking for a Mac developer or developers who would be interested
in working with me on a new project. The product is going to be a
fairly simple but elegant piece of Mac software. I think it will fit
nicely in a niche where although there are many products, none of them
Quicktime feature03 Aug 2006 19:52 GMT2
Today's rocketboom surprised me - not the content, but the
presentation. It looks like at some point Quicktime movies got
bookmarking features, and a popup bookmark menu now appears in between
the scrub bar and the volume meter thing.

Apple + AMD03 Aug 2006 18:17 GMT4
There's an odd article at
<http://weblog.infoworld.com/enterprisemac/archives/2006/08/apple_finally_g.html>
which suggests that Apple's going to go with AMD CPUs for their 64-bit
machines.
