I'm using Parallels on a MacBook with 2GB of RAM. I have 2 x Debian Etch and 1 x XP Pro virtual machines. I use host-only networking, with the VMs using DHCP and OSX configured to share the Airport connection to the Parallels virtual ethernet interface.

Would a cheap G4 tower from ebay have the processing grunt to act as a suitable machine to serve music from? I've got an inkling to stick one in the loft attached to a RAID array, and have that doing all the serving and backup.

Checking through my TradeDoubler stats, it looks like someone spent £niceamount at the AppleStore yesterday after linking through from my site. Whilst it might have been the person I evangelized certain bits of kit to late afternoon, it may also have been one of you lot.
