"I'm a Mac"11 Aug 2006 21:41 GMT1
And for another instalment of my occasional "Let's swipe this story off
Digg" series, here's an article about the actor doing the current Mac

The new Centrify tool might be of interest to anyone who uses Active
Directory and would like to use Group Policy to help manage the MacOS X
machines. See:

Mac Pro £1000 Less Than Dell11 Aug 2006 19:44 GMT2
Perverse, I know, but when a colleague today
opined that the new Mac Pro was a bit dear, I
immediately countered 'cheaper than a Dell'.
Then had to prove it.

Change partition size on external HD?11 Aug 2006 16:34 GMT16
We have an external firewire hard drive from LaCie which we use solely
for backups. I originally partitioned the drive into two equal
partitions, one for my wife's backups and one for mine.
In the meantime, she still has 25 GB available while I only have 9. Are
Blurgh! Proprietary cables11 Aug 2006 14:23 GMT11
A couple of days ago, I ordered a Mcody M20 mp3 player - looks nice from
the pictures and works with the mac.
I got it today, and found that nobody mentioned in any of the reviews that
it has one of those stupid microscopic usb cables, rather than the

Hard disk icon11 Aug 2006 12:11 GMT4
Dear All
I was visiting a client yesterday to install his colour laser printer - these
80-year olds never stop - when I noticed that the Macintosh HD icon on his
desktop is actually an alias.
USB Wireless Adapter and WPA-PSK11 Aug 2006 10:53 GMT3
Is anyone using a USB Wireless Adapter on Tiger 10.47 which has
WPA-PSK encryption enabled and is working properly? The one I am using
is fine with WEP but nothing else although it apparently is supposed
to.
FS/swap: competition price (Meistersinger watch)11 Aug 2006 09:48 GMT3
I won a Meistersinger watch in a competition - see
http://www.meistersinger.co.uk/scrypto1z.htm
Now there's no way I'm going to wear such an expensive watch - anyone wants
to buy it off me or trade something of a decent value?
FAO Hugh: 3COM ADSL modem/routers11 Aug 2006 09:30 GMT2
Searching for an ADSL modem/router to replace my sister's faulty unit,
I decided on a 3COM ADSL modem/router and then hunted around to see
what other people's experience of it was.
I came across this uk.comp.sys.mac thread:
WWDC 200711 Aug 2006 06:58 GMT21
It's only day 2 of WWDC and I know where my holiday money in 2007 will
be spent. WWDC '07 :-)

Why no single dual-processor Mac Pro?10 Aug 2006 22:21 GMT28
I have no use for four processors.  I barely have any use for two.
I'd rather have one (or two) 3GHZ processors than four 2.66GHz ones.
But instead I have to pay an extra 500 pounds to get two dual 3GHz
processors.
