| Why has my local Ethernet packed up? | 30 Aug 2006 23:39 GMT | 8 |
Okay. It's like this: I've got a 10.3.9 G4 and a 10.4.7 G5 and an HP LJ 1320n printer. I've also got a gigabit switch and a 10/100 hub (both unmanaged Netgear jobs).

| Database of themes in texts | 30 Aug 2006 20:38 GMT | 4 |
I need to set up and maintain a database of themes in texts, because I'm finding that things I used to be able to recall immediately I now can't, and end up spending ages pulling volumes from shelves trying to find what I was after.

| Another airport question (or two), sorry! | 30 Aug 2006 20:13 GMT | 3 |
Ok, I've kinda got peer-peer working, although I suspect signal strength isn't good over the route between my two macs (they constantly lose connection). However, I can't get Internet Sharing to work unless I turn off the

| Server Admin. Where are the aliases? | 30 Aug 2006 19:59 GMT | 6 |
I installed OSX server in the end, it seemed rude not to. It is up and connected to my slow DSLMax connection. DNS got set up ok, and seems rather logical. However, mail admin seems to be missing a bit.

| Help with wireless broadband set up for Mac + PC household | 30 Aug 2006 19:07 GMT | 12 |
Can anyone offer me advice on the gear and set-up I'd need to connect my Mac (G5 OS10.4), plus my daughter's desktop PC (XP) and my other daughter's laptop PC (XP) to a single broadband router. I've already got a Zyxel Prestige 600 Series router (for the Mac) and a

| What's your Poison? | 30 Aug 2006 19:06 GMT | 115 |
I've always had Apple users down as intelligent and slightly eccentric. All my experiences here confirm those suspicions :-) Got me thinking about what the preferred tipple would be for a crowd like that?

| Buying a Macbook | 30 Aug 2006 15:15 GMT | 13 |
I've trying hard not to fall into the trap of forever waiting a bit more for the next latest thing. But there's a couple of things which are still bugging me. How do Apple usually handle OS upgrades? When leopard is out will it be

| Northern Mac Specialist | 30 Aug 2006 14:00 GMT | 5 |
Can anyone recommend any companies in the North , ideally North West, who specialise in mac upgrades? I want someone to supply/fit some memory to an old G3 iMac, it sounds a bit fiddly to me (it's a tray loader) . macupgrades.co.uk sounds great and price is OK but it is

| 17 inch MacBook Pro - its a keeper | 30 Aug 2006 12:57 GMT | 16 |
I've decided to keep the MacBook Pro 17 inch I've been using for the last week. The heat is tolerable, especially on battery. I'm using it now on battery and it's cold to the touch (only been on for about 15 minutes admittedly). I've got another battery for it to give 5+ hours

| Well that was much easier (wireless setup)..... | 30 Aug 2006 11:33 GMT | 8 |
Ok, I've ditched the idea of trying to use my old router/modem, with a wireless box, or peer to peer between the Macs. I just kept losing the wireless signal, or could only get it to partially work. I've just been out and bought a Belkin G+ MIMO wireless modem/router. It
