I'm considering getting a laptop (it'll be a Mac), which I can use for
light purposes. Possibly as an iTunes jukebox to connect to my HiFi, and
also as a photo station when I'm out and about.

One downside to LCD screens. 2 bloody thunderbugs have decided the nice
bright light in my LCD screen was too enticing,crawled between the glass
adn the panel itself and had the poor manners to die from heat stroke.
So no dead pixels, just 4 pixels worth of dead insect.

I've never used folder actions before. Can I do this?
A given folder has a number of subfolders, as well as a number of HTML

Having a couple of G4 Mac Mini machines that are equipped with 10/100
Mbps Ethernet I was wondering whether I could leave both configured to
use Ethernet for the internet via the router but try to configure IP
over Firewire between the two of them to give me a faster connection.

A couple days ago my powerbook died, right before I had a business trip. I
had to have a Mac so the only solution was to buy one on almost the same
day. I got a white Macbook 2Ghz, 1GB Ramm, 80GB drive from the apple store
costing £1099 or something.

Is it possible to buy replacement keyboards for powerbooks? I could do with
one for my 12" G4.

You can BTO Mac Pros with "fully native" OS X Server, so I guess that
means it is out?

Not sure about this. On the upside, if the price was right I'd probably
buy. But then again - should the the Beeb be making add-ons for another
company?

It was the WWDC campus bash last night. Good beer, good food, long

I would like to install a 'superdrive' into a G3 iMac.
(600 MHZ/1Gig RAM).
Does anybody know if this is possible, and if so,
where can I find some directions on how to do it!

Greetings. I have a old version of Filemaker. Version 6 Pro Unlimited.  Is it
possible for to upgrade to v. 8.5?  And what can I expect to happen with the

I've set up Control Panel | Remote Access to make a dial-up connection. It
connects fine.
I've set up Control Panel | Internet with email details (name, POP
user/password, POP/SMTP server addresses) and default home web page.
