What app for designing exhibition stands?13 Aug 2006 23:50 GMT9
The last 3D app I got my teeth into (many years ago) was Specular's
Infini-D. I used it mainly for personal projects, rather than
commercial, although I did get the occasional opportunity to use it and
get paid for my creations. Mainly my paid work involves design for
Sarah has a new shiny!13 Aug 2006 22:44 GMT9
I received some money a few days ago from my grandfather (early 30th pressie)
so I've just become the proud owner of a 30GB iPod - I just couldn't hold out
any longer.
Hopefully my parents will have their new shiny soon, too (17" iMac).
Music Downloading13 Aug 2006 21:27 GMT36
I have a deal with my 11 year old daughter. She asks me when she wants a
song form iTunes and she pays 50p towards it. It works well.
She came home tonight and told me her friends are teasing her because
she pays for her music.
Happy Birthday!13 Aug 2006 21:13 GMT36
Happy Birthday Roger! Thirty-one today, right? Hope you have a good one...
You share your birthday with:
1667 - Anna Maria Luisa de' Medici, last of the Medicis (died 1743)
1673 - Richard Mead, English physician (died 1754)
Safari stops on close13 Aug 2006 20:38 GMT44
Dear All
Idle musing as I sit here waiting for Safari to close a window (with a number
of tabs in it). How can a program take over 8 minutes to close a window?!
Raining here by the sea, too.
iChat won't always connect13 Aug 2006 20:38 GMT9
Dear All
A client wants to video conference using iChat. Sometimes it works, but
often, in the evening especially, the invitation (to or from) gets rejected
with the message "Insufficient bandwidth", and a note to submit a report to

yet more virtulisation, what i wounder though is the other edge of

Mac mags getting anorexic...13 Aug 2006 20:38 GMT15
For the first time in quite a while I hauled myslef into bath to attempt
to spend some money. Failed in that mission, but spent a bit of time in
WH Smiths. It's probably at least a year since I looked at a Mac mag, so
 I thought I'd have a browse.
Boot Camp and external drives13 Aug 2006 20:38 GMT27
Could I install Windows on a USB or firewire external drive, and boot it using
Boot Camp, or does Windows have to be on the internal drive?

Word 2004 - copy a text box13 Aug 2006 11:49 GMT6
Arghh.  Very grateful for suggestions.  'Help' and Google no help.
I'm knocking together a questionnaire in Word (I think it has to be
Word, else I'd do it in InDesign), and I want to put a text box for the
reply under each question.  There are 28+ questions - how do I automate

Tiger Install DVD question13 Aug 2006 10:09 GMT2
Can I use the install DVD that came with my macbook to install Tiger on an
older G4 powerbook that has recently been formatted?
I do have 2 Tiger install DVDs but the macbook has iLife 06, the powerbook
doesn't.
New Flash player - vastly better13 Aug 2006 08:02 GMT4
Just installed the new Flash player - finally I can play Flash video in
a background window without the frame rate dropping to risible levels.
Trying it now on the MacBook - haven't tried on a PPC yet but I'll do
so later.
