Leopard preview: much more positive now18 Aug 2006 07:02 GMT84
OK, finally had a chance to watch the keynote stream. I'm much more
upbeat about this now, and I can see definite changes in the way I work
coming up.
Initial thoughts:
VoodooPad Query17 Aug 2006 22:35 GMT-
I keep trying VoodooPad as it is such a fine looking application; my
problem is that I just can't find a use for it. Maybe I am just failing
to /get/ the whole personal wiki thing because I do feel I should be
able to use it somehow.
Hips Don't Lie17 Aug 2006 22:07 GMT1
It seems they do...I bought the CD Single (Enhanced CD) today mainly for
Track 4 which is the Shakira video of the song. Apart from being HOT!!!,
I wanted to try a test and get it on to my new Palm Tungsten E2. In
iTunes all I get is the audio tracks 1, 2, 3 and no sign of the video ...
Free travesty on iTunes...17 Aug 2006 21:35 GMT19
Dear Lord.
The free single of the week on iTunes is a truly terrifying thing to
hear. I didn't know whether to laugh or slit my wrists.
Yay, it all works...17 Aug 2006 21:06 GMT3
The Airport Extreme card arrived for my G5 this morning, installed in
somewhat less than the prescribed 10 minutes :-)
I then attempted to get my iBoko to communicate with my G5. This was
easier said than done though. I got the Macs to recognise each other,
Power cable management17 Aug 2006 20:36 GMT2
Once again from Digg, this time with a touch of Macspotting involved too:

good to me, though I'm not -completely- certain about the idea. Surely
Cool!!!17 Aug 2006 20:36 GMT6
My Powerbook battery has been slowly expiring over the months. Its got
increasingly erratic in reporting time remaining, often staying on 1
mins for an hour or more.
But now, I have uber-battery. 42hrs 36mins! I spit on your modern
Nisus Writer Express vs M$ Word17 Aug 2006 20:32 GMT6
Okay. Once again a level of frustration maxed out beyond all reasonable
endurance leads me to search for alternatives to Word. I've always
rather liked the look and feel of Nisus Writer and it gets good reviews
so it's first up.
Acquisition won't connect17 Aug 2006 20:10 GMT4
Acquisition has decided not to connect to the Gnutella network. Anyone
suggest a reason? The port is open, and I haven't changed any settings. Is
this another ntl: problem?

Informal non-geek backup survey17 Aug 2006 19:57 GMT25
Driven by some discussion about Apple's release of Time Machine and whether
it will make any difference to the proportion of people who back up, I
decided to have a bit of an informal survey amongst my non-geek friends. I
wanted to find out whether they back up and if not, what is ...
Mac Pro/Airport or External Wireless Router17 Aug 2006 19:01 GMT5
Concerning adding wireless to the Mac Pro.
The airport kit is, apparently, not yet available for the Mac Pro.
When it is, do you think it would be better to go for the internal
Airport Extreme (or whatever it is called that day of the week) or
It makes me nauseous...17 Aug 2006 18:28 GMT12
..its like watching a religious convention. Scary.
OS X and Free Disk Space?17 Aug 2006 18:28 GMT26
I have a G5 iMac which is nearly full (around 7gb left off a 160gb hard
drive).
I keep intending to buy an external drive so I can offload some of the
stuff but can anyone tell me if I'm likely to be affecting performance
Thunder and lightning17 Aug 2006 18:28 GMT2
Years ago I was somewhat paranoid about thunder and lightning.
Not that I was particularly worried about being struck myself you
understand but rather that the lighting would in some way cause a power
surge and upset my nice Mac computer.
File sharing, Remote Login, or Apple Remote Desktop17 Aug 2006 18:28 GMT36
I've finally laid the Cat5e between the office and the home office, so I
can get internet access now that my TiBook has decided it's never going
to Airport properly, so...
What's the best way to access files on the office computer?
