| MacMini?! | 30 Jun 2006 23:47 GMT | 2 |
MacMini had a freeze, was shut down, now on start up, following chimes goes straight into "Power Saving mode" and no key or mouse activity is possible. Restart/Reset just the same result.

https://store2.adobe.com/cfusion/store/index.cfm?store=OLS-UK&view=ols_prod&cate gory=/Applications/Photoshop&NR=0 On the page above ( "cfusion" = "confusion"? :) it says: "Full from 346.62 UKP 295.95 UKP ex VAT" Whatever version I select, the price is nowhere near to that. In fact,

| Do the Apple stores engrave iPods ? | 30 Jun 2006 22:27 GMT | 1 |
Daughter wants an iPod Nano.... NOW!! May go to the Trafford Centre store tomorrow. Anyone know whether they do the laser engraving as on the online store? If so she can start thinking of her "logo".

| 10.4.7 has done something to my iPod | 30 Jun 2006 22:07 GMT | 9 |
Or rather, it's done something to the Finder or device recognition sub-system. Symptoms: if I put the machine to sleep, when it wakes up it will not see iPods that are plugged in. They don't show in the Finder, in iTunes

| Strange Classic/OS 9 problem | 30 Jun 2006 16:40 GMT | 2 |
Here's the skinny: 1st gen iLamp with 10.4.7 runs Classic fine but refuses to show OS9 as an option in Startup Disk (single partition so no way of using the Option key trick on startup). Friend needs to run a tax calculator supplied by the Inland Revenue (written using Director

| Viewing JPEG as-is (not rotated)? | 30 Jun 2006 14:27 GMT | 6 |
What an utter pain in the arse this jpeg rotation flag is! I thought "Oh, that's clever!" when I first used preview on the Mac, after taking photos on the EOS 300D - it had rotated the image itself. Of course, it causes problems with some programs that don't honour the

| MacBook sleeves advice / old mac valuations | 30 Jun 2006 11:25 GMT | 3 |
Picked up the £899 MacBook the other day and it's rather nice. A noticable boost in perfomance from my iBook. About to bump the RAM up to 2GB when I get home so I'm all set apart from a sleeve to keep it relatively safe. Any recommendations? I prefer the thinner sleeve type

| Special software to burn dual layer DVDs? | 30 Jun 2006 11:14 GMT | 2 |
I'm considering buying a Pioneer 111D to replace the dying optical drive in my MDD G4 1 GHz dual. I note that it can write and read Dual Layer DVDs. Does burning dual layer DVDs require any special software?

| Screaming Powermacs | 30 Jun 2006 08:19 GMT | 4 |
It's a G5 Powermac which, out of the blue - and in its sleep - will suddenly start its fans up and make a heck of a row. It can't be woken up and needs to be hard reset in order to get back to a usable system. This happened twice today whilst the machine was not in use, presumably

| justification for a cinema display... | 29 Jun 2006 23:42 GMT | 30 |
Hi everyone.. I need to get an external display for my g4 powerbook, and ideally i'd like to get a 20in cinema display. However, our IT guys says, why cant you just use a cheap LCD? As aesthetic arguments carry no weight (despite being in an Art School), what other reasons can i

| Safari hangs after 10.4.7 update | 29 Jun 2006 20:45 GMT | 4 |
Anybody else having problems with Safari after updating to 10.4.7? I'm getting repeated beachballing and have to force quit. I had SAFT and Pith Helmet installed. I've updated SAFT to the 2.0.4. version and consigned the Pith Helmet bundle to the trash until it's
