In the interests of speed, I'm thinking of running INN on my home Mac. Has anyone experience of this - is it difficult (obviously you won't have run it on my Mac, but YKWIM)? r

| UDP in firewall? | 31 Mar 2006 23:47 GMT | 2 |
Apropos the discussion elsewhere, what will break if I enable 'Stealth mode' and 'just say no to UDP' in Tiger's firewall? Bear in mind I'm on a mixed Mac/crap notwork with an external IP.

| Mac Help | 31 Mar 2006 23:40 GMT | 5 |
I have a Mac computer that runs on a G3 processor. It has no internet connection, so nothing online could have caused the problem. I've had it for about 5/6 months now. Because I can't access the log-on screen, I can't troubleshoot for

Following on from replacing my HD (see earlier posts). Originally my PB was pre-installed with Panther and came with iLife (Garage Band, iPhoto etc, etc...). And, when Tiger was released I bought it, and performed an upgrade installation. But, now I have installed

| Fast user switching question | 31 Mar 2006 20:18 GMT | 10 |
I have two accounts set up which I regularly need to switch between. Account 1 is set up with UK formats and Account 2 with German formats (Date and number formats are different.) Most of my work is done in the UK format but for our German bookkeeping software I switch to Account 2.

| Embedding a Google Map in an application? | 31 Mar 2006 20:06 GMT | 2 |
Okay, so I've only read the first chapter of the programming book, so I'm a while off yet... but: Google Maps requires registration for a key. This key will only work for a given directory on a given domain, eg you can register a key for

| crash Safari, Preview, Finder with an image.. | 31 Mar 2006 19:22 GMT | 8 |
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT OPEN THIS LINK IN SAFARI ...if you don't want it to crash. The page opens fine in Firefox/Camino. It contains an image of a car which makes BAD THINGS HAPPEN. The image is in some way corrupt.

| Macbook display on external monitor | 31 Mar 2006 18:19 GMT | 8 |
Is it possible to totally shut off the lcd when a monitor is plugged in externally? I don't mean just turn the brightness down, as the display is still mirrored, but just dark (you can see the picture). I remember that on older windoze laptops, that often caused a bit of a

| Gmail Widgets | 31 Mar 2006 18:04 GMT | 8 |
Anyone else's Gmail widgets stopped working? I use Gmail Checker and Gmail Inbox and neither will work now. But curiously, if I click on the Gmail Checker widget, as I would if there was a message waiting that I wanted to read, it's still able to take me

| Goddamn Safari | 31 Mar 2006 17:51 GMT | 18 |
I know I've posted a similar moan before, but that was ages ago. Now using 1.3.2 on Panther. For a change, I used Safari when booking my holiday last weekend, and since it was so well behaved I thought I would try and reinstate it as

| Click and drag (to move a file) doesn't work in [Finder] list view | 31 Mar 2006 16:27 GMT | 7 |
In icon view it's fine (when they are big icons) but in list view it doesn't seem to work (for moving a file to a different drive) I need to use list view at times, it's easier to find a file when you can sort them by size/date

| BT Broadband connection help | 31 Mar 2006 16:07 GMT | 1 |
For the next few days/weeks (depending on the forward chain of our house move) I'm going to be staying at my sister-in-law's house. She has BT Openworld broadband, and I believe this is delivered to her Wintel box through one of those free Shuttle or Shuttle-like USB

| Never seen Apple RAM cheaper than Crucial | 31 Mar 2006 16:01 GMT | 13 |
Pricing up a Mini for my parents. Apple want £70 to go from 512MB to 1GB (I assume that's just adding another 512MB module?) Thinking that I could always add another 512/1GB later, I had a butcher's at Crucial. They want £90 for 512MB.
