INN on Panther01 Apr 2006 00:26 GMT22
In the interests of speed, I'm thinking of running INN on my home Mac.
Has anyone experience of this - is it difficult (obviously you won't have
run it on my Mac, but YKWIM)?

UDP in firewall?31 Mar 2006 23:47 GMT2
Apropos the discussion elsewhere, what will break if I enable 'Stealth
mode' and 'just say no to UDP' in Tiger's firewall?
Bear in mind I'm on a mixed Mac/crap notwork with an external IP.
Mac Help31 Mar 2006 23:40 GMT5
I have a Mac computer that runs on a G3 processor. It has no internet
connection, so nothing online could have caused the problem. I've had
it for about 5/6 months now.
Because I can't access the log-on screen, I can't troubleshoot for
iLife Re-Installing ???31 Mar 2006 23:26 GMT2
Following on from replacing my HD (see earlier posts).
Originally my PB was pre-installed with Panther and came with iLife
(Garage Band, iPhoto etc, etc...). And, when Tiger was released I bought
it,  and performed an upgrade installation. But, now I have installed
2007 until I buy my next Mac31 Mar 2006 20:18 GMT40
I dawned on me this week, It'll be over a year before I purchase my next
mac. My G4 is starting to feel really sluggish too and a year seems a long
way away.
The problem is Adobe, who have announced that their products(which now inc
Fast user switching question31 Mar 2006 20:18 GMT10
I have two accounts set up which I regularly need to switch between.
Account 1 is set up with UK formats and Account 2 with German formats
(Date and number formats are different.) Most of my work is done in the
UK format but for our German bookkeeping software I switch to Account 2.

while off yet... but:

crash Safari, Preview, Finder with an image..31 Mar 2006 19:22 GMT8
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT OPEN THIS LINK IN SAFARI
...if you don't want it to crash. The page opens fine in Firefox/Camino.
It contains an image of a car which makes BAD THINGS HAPPEN. The image
is in some way corrupt.
Macbook display on external monitor31 Mar 2006 18:19 GMT8
Is it possible to totally shut off the lcd when a monitor is plugged in
externally? I don't mean just turn the brightness down, as the display
is still mirrored, but just dark (you can see the picture).
I remember that on older windoze laptops, that often caused a bit of a
Gmail Widgets31 Mar 2006 18:04 GMT8
Anyone else's Gmail widgets stopped working?
I use Gmail Checker and Gmail Inbox and neither will work now.  But
curiously, if I click on the Gmail Checker widget, as I would if there
was a message waiting that I wanted to read, it's still able to take me
Goddamn Safari31 Mar 2006 17:51 GMT18
I know I've posted a similar moan before, but that was ages ago.  Now
using 1.3.2 on Panther.
For a change, I used Safari when booking my holiday last weekend, and
since it was so well behaved I thought I would try and reinstate it as
Click and drag (to move a file) doesn't work in [Finder] list view31 Mar 2006 16:27 GMT7
In icon view it's fine (when they are big icons) but in list view it
doesn't seem to work (for moving a file to a different drive)
I need to use list view at times, it's easier to find a file when you
can sort them by size/date
BT Broadband connection help31 Mar 2006 16:07 GMT1
For the next few days/weeks (depending on the forward chain of our
house move) I'm going to be staying at my sister-in-law's house.
She has BT Openworld broadband, and I believe this is delivered to her

Never seen Apple RAM cheaper than Crucial31 Mar 2006 16:01 GMT13
Pricing up a Mini for my parents. Apple want £70 to go from 512MB to 1GB (I
assume that's just adding another 512MB module?) Thinking that I could always
add another 512/1GB later, I had a butcher's at Crucial. They want £90 for
512MB.
