I selected the following Updates:
Mac OS X Update 10.5.7  (I was at 10.5.6)
iTunes 8.1.1

but it bit me again.
If I *ever* meet the idiot programmer at Apple who decided that the
DEFAULT choice on Finder's View/Show View Options should be "All
windows", I will gleefully take my MacBook, crunch it so it's all

I was sent a file compressed with winzip to a zipx file, but stuffit
expander cannot open it.
Can some one suggest an app that may do this?

I'd like to migrate/move from a Powerbook G4 Ti (1GHz, Model M88559LL/A)
to a Powerbook G4 Aluminum (1.33GHz, Model M9421LL/A).
Is it OK to clone from the one to the other?
I've done so recently and all "appears" to be A-OK.

I have two Macs on my wireless network. One of them has a drive
partition that I want to use to back up my other Mac as a time machine
disk. Is there a way to do this?

How do  you view an NFO in Thoth ..  I try extracting
manually then just plain extracting but nothing..or is it a yenc

I used boot camp to partition my Mac hard drive for Windows, but used
that partition to install Linux. (During Linux install I resized the
Windows partition to be as small as possible to make room for Linux).

Is there a way to tell Spotlight to not index certain directories ?
For instance, if you have some private/confidential stuff in a hiearchy
of folders that you won't ever want to show up when doing a spotlight
search, how would you go about flagging those to not be indexed ?

What good or bad can anyone tell me about Roxio's VMware Fusion 2?

Both my wife and I just bought new macs and tried to set up "printer
sharing" use printer sharing the way we did before.  And nothing
works. We looked on the net and found that we were not the only ones
with this problem.

I'm having a VERY difficult time trying to download the
_Windows version_ of Quicktime. I'm trying to do this on my
Mac, to create a CD with the installer file on it which I
will then give to someone with a Windows laptop.

Trying to diagnose a potential problem and learn about how to read the
