Whee  whoopie, newest TechTool 4.6.2 works!17 Jul 2008 03:19 GMT5
About   _very_    _recent_  TechTool version 4.6.2
Avoid commonly advertised version 4.6.1 however,
because there are many mutterings from users
about it showing false "faults" on volume rebuild.
Apple sues Psystar16 Jul 2008 19:51 GMT16
It sounds like Apple might have let Psystar continue unabated but for
the reliability issues people were having with some of the products.  It
sounds like Apple feels that they were blackening their name.  And Apple
does have a sterling reputation at the moment in the eyes of ...
Firewire audio oddities16 Jul 2008 15:54 GMT4
So I'm trying out a M-Audio Audiophile (external firewire sound device)
and things are a little weird.  Wondering if anyone here has tried
M-Audio firewire audio products.  When I hit the Volume up/down keys on
my keyboard, using the USB iMic the reaction time is instant.  Same ...

Help, forgot password, OS 9 ?15 Jul 2008 19:24 GMT4
Hi, I had to pull out my old Mac G3 desktop running OS 9, to work with
some very old data. There is an external hard drive attached to it via
SCSI cable. It does not see the hard drive. It's been a long time
since I used this Mac and I seem to have forgotten everything about it
Conflict Catcher need on OSX Leopard?15 Jul 2008 17:57 GMT10
I'm kinda new to OSX but I used to use Conflict Catcher all the time to
fix extension conflicts and most of all to select which extensions were
running at startup.
Now I'm running OSX and I'm having problems with certain startup
Registration lost15 Jul 2008 16:09 GMT4
In this case it's Cocktail: when launched there was an Apple message
warning me this was downloaded from the internet, albeit six months ago.
Then a Cocktail message saying I needed to register, which I had done a
long time ago, and used it several dozens of times since without ...

Hi, when I do a 'get info' on a file, all I can see is the 'last opened'
date, ditto in list view in finder. What happened to the 'date created',
or did I just imagine it?
Thanks

Stops Logoff????15 Jul 2008 06:08 GMT1
It takes me a long time to log out of OSX.  I ALWAYS get "logoff was
stopped by <some application>" .  Isn't there a way around having to
manually quit several apps and wait for the spinning ball to stop and
the applications to stop ignoring stop commands?

dual layer coasters14 Jul 2008 19:56 GMT4
I just tried to burn my first dual layer DVDs... a 6.5 GB disk image. So
far I've got two coasters. At $4 a pop I'm disinclined to try again.
The burner (MATSHITA DVD-R   UJ-857E:) was replaced about 3 months ago
under warranty.
iPod compatability14 Jul 2008 17:51 GMT5
My new 3rd generation iPod tells me it can't be recognized by my PB G4
running OS X10.3.9. How high up the upgrade ladder do I need to go to
use my new toy? Will I still be able to run Classic? If not what are
my best solutions? How much should I expect to pay for this upgrade on
Viewing and listening14 Jul 2008 17:36 GMT1
I have been having troublw viewing videos for such a long time I can't
remember when it started. Every video I try to look at, no matter
where it is, plays in jerks and spurts. My uneducated opinion is it
needs a buffer however I have also tried to download the video
