I've lately taken to shutting down my iMac (running 10.5.4) at night, because of electricity problems in my aparatment (I always used to keep it on but asleep). I've found that it turns itself on at 1 a.m. and I have no idea why.

I read a comment a while ago that certain characters we can use in Mac filenames cannot be read by Windows. Does anyone know what characters those are? Thanks.

I have a powermacG5 which is running os 10.4.11 and I'd like to run os 9 on it. My problem is that I cant' boot my os 9 cd. I've read a lot and I found that the 10.4 system wants 9.1. When I try to boot with os 9 disks it always boots os X and asks for me to put in my password.

Forgive the newbie question but do wireless routers lose their signal strength after a couple of years of use? I've always had good luck with Linksys routers (wired and wireless) but over the last year or so I've noticed that my signal "meter" on the laptops drops to one or two bars

I don't have a laptop, my work computer is a Windows machine (and I synchronize Opera and Firefox bookmarks from there to home already). I don't have Apple's preferred provider, so the iPhone is not an option.
