I have thousands of pictures and somehow over the years they have duplicated themselves into multiple copies of each, some with names different to the original. I need to undo that. I want a program that will look at actual file content and ignore

I've got an Intel Mac on which I've used Bootcamp to install Windows Vista. Vista runs great, but I'd like to convert it to a virtual machine using Parallels or VMWare (not sure which one is better?).

On my laptop, a fairly recent MBP running updated Leopard, all of a sudden I cannot get a newsfeed off Comcast, including this NG. This in itself would not be baffling, except on my iMac, also recent and updated, same set up, I do get it as normal. I even took it off WiFi and

| Mail App Anomaly - It Thinks My Email Address Belongs to Other People? | 11 Jul 2008 22:50 GMT | 8 |
A few weeks ago I started receiving emails that looked like they were addressed to other people I know. But on checking the email address, I found that it was my email address - Mail was just putting somebody else's name beside it.

| Apple screwed up the iPhone 2.0 launch. | 11 Jul 2008 17:54 GMT | 1 |
Should have released the 2.0 SW with the iTunes 7.7 release. This way, all the EXISTING iPhone owners could have upgraded (and most importantly ,re-activated the phone through the itunes store) BEFORE the MAD CRUSH of people trying to activate the 3G phones.

| Double vs Single click | 10 Jul 2008 22:05 GMT | 45 |
I gave my 70-something mother a Mac a few years ago, and I've been upgrading her with my hand-me-downs whenever I replace my computer. So I was just visiting her this weekend to give her my old iBook G4. Most of that isn't relevant, except that she's old and as ...

| Making external drive non-removable | 10 Jul 2008 20:34 GMT | 28 |
Does anyone know if there is a way of mounting an external drive under OS X so that it is considered non-removable by OS X? (One way to accomplish this is to boot off of the external drive, which is what I'm doing right now, but it seems as if there should be a better way.)

| Web Inspector - how cool is that! | 09 Jul 2008 09:36 GMT | 5 |
Last night I went into Safari Preferences and happened to look at the Advanced tab. At the bottom was an unticked box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar". I had never noticed that before, so I ticked it. So what is in the Develop menu? Well one thing is "Show Web inspector" and I ...

| Help needed: HD won't mount, etc. | 08 Jul 2008 21:09 GMT | 2 |
I'll try to keep this brief and keep my whining to a minimum. I've just suffered a catastrophic failure in the most diabolical of ways. My backup drive had been acting up with directory issues that Disk Utility couldn't solve, so I decided I would wipe it clean and start

| Compressing huge files | 08 Jul 2008 12:28 GMT | 64 |
Compressing files adequately - Some Mac users do file compression quite a lot, using the built-in "Compress" utility of OS X which is available from the OS X "File" menu.

| Can DiskWarrior Recover Lost Partitions? | 07 Jul 2008 18:39 GMT | 6 |
Thanks again to all who answered questions related to my daughters G4 mirror door PowerMac and her disk drive. Here is the latest result. I decided to try one last start up utilizing a known good 10.3 start up dvd. This produced the same results as before (indefinitely spinning
