At home, I frequently work with dual monitors on my Macbook Pro, using
the built in 15 inch display, along with my 22 Inch HP LCD. Is it
possible to extend the menu bar (at the top of the screen) over to the
external display so that while working in a program on the external
How do you enable journaling on DVD-RW?16 Jun 2008 23:54 GMT5
When I insert a blank DVD-RW I don't know how to turn on journaling so
I can write to it repeatedly after the first time. Is there a way to
do this on Mac?
Will this new .Mac replacement finally allow me to use my own domain for email...?16 Jun 2008 20:04 GMT18
plus all my other email addresses? I could never get this sorted with

When I print a document, my printer stays open in the dock. With Tiger,
it used to close when the document was printed. Why does it stay open
in Leopard?

New York pushes ISPs to curb Usenet access
Time Warner Cable pulls the plug on all newsgroups after the state AG's
office finds child porn on 88 of them. Verizon and Sprint plan to limit
Usenet too.

I want to rename all the files in a folder so that the new names are

Upgrading a G416 Jun 2008 01:40 GMT6
I have a G4 that I would like to upgrade.  I was just curious what the
most I can do on the G4 as far as an upgrade would go.  And, is this a
lofty endeavor?  :-)
Here are the specs:
Free poewrbook 14015 Jun 2008 20:13 GMT3
I know this isn't a for sale group, so flame on, self-annointed.  I'm

This is a broken powerbook 140, no HD, no hope of revival.  But
visually, it is in good condition.  This would be worth while for a Mac
1 or 2-shot transfer of files from older SE to modern Mac or PC15 Jun 2008 19:28 GMT18
Folks:
I've got a long-neglected System 7.1 SE with a couple of megs of files that
I need to archive to a modern machine.  Most of the Files are MS Word 4.0.
The first shot is to get _some_ files across to see if the Word files are

QuickTime.

I'm running 10.4.11 on a G4.  I've recently added a Maxtor external

into a strange condition several times: It is still running (fan is on),
but the screen has gone dark and won't come back.  The only action

In my HD/System Library/Coreservices/SKPlugins folder, I have seven
generic "dot service" applications and they have a "No" symbol over the
