Is there a way in Tiger (10.4.11) to "lock" the computer against
unauthorized use without logging out of the user account, and without

I tried to post this twice from the office.  It doesn¹t seem to get out.
We have an office network where we use RDC to connect from our Windows
workstations to our terminal server, which connects to our main server. 
From there we use PuTTY to connect to an Apple computer running ...

We use a Mini running Tiger as a file server on our small LAN.  Recently

to the remote volume, a little icon would show up on my Mac's desktop,
and you could make an alias of it, and click on it to reconnect ...
