Cutting from a large text document11 Jun 2008 15:55 GMT7
I find it hard to scroll up or down when I am cutting more than a page
in a Mac document.   As soon as I get to the edge of the page, it
skips real fast, but I only want a few more lines.
Is there a technique I can use to scroll up those few more lines that
Just Curious...??? ( G! ( ihc ) Icon Replacement Glitch...???11 Jun 2008 15:44 GMT5
With Leopard, did Apple fix that weird glitch that replaced the icon
for Pages & TextEdit with the generic versions whenever you saved a
document...???
Eh?
Problems with 10.5.3?11 Jun 2008 15:27 GMT5
It definitely helped my mini (I was getting weird drawing) and seems to
have helped my iMac (which was crashing overnight). Both of these
problems weren't there in the original 10.5 release, but appeared
recently. And they went away immediately after applying the combo update.

Glad to, Graham, but all I could think of was two
very minor quirks
Changing keymaps with keyboard in X1111 Jun 2008 12:06 GMT2
I often switch between US and Swedish keymaps with command-space while
typing, but in X11 applications this has no effect and I am forced to
use the mouse to choose from the input menu instead. For various
reasons I would much prefer to do this with the keyboard.
Why is OSX always broke?11 Jun 2008 09:42 GMT81
Apple is  writing to their own hardware. Why should there be any problem at
all?
WINDOWS upgrades run on a huge variety of hardware, with zero problems.
Ramble to a fellow Mac user about System 6 and UIs11 Jun 2008 08:12 GMT12
Isn't it funny... you don't hear about Windows 3.1 users struggling to
keep their elderly 286's going. Hell, for one thing they're just not
very nice to USE. Apple got a surprisingly large amount right 20 years
ago. System 6 is outstandingly easy to use and intuitive. And fun -

Dell 2405fpw USB hub troubles11 Jun 2008 04:48 GMT4
After installing Apple's latest "security" patch on June 7th the
USB hub on my Dell 2405fpw flatscreen monitor quit working.
The Mac is a  g4 mini at OS X version 10.4.11.
If anybody's got an idea what went wrong, or better yet, how to fix it,
Desktop turns blue and then returns11 Jun 2008 04:45 GMT10
Every once in awhile over the last couple of days, my MBP running
10.4.11 has the desktop go blue and empty of icons, including the dock
(same blue as when you start up)a for about 2-4 seconds and goes back to
normal. The console afterwards always has pretty much the same thing:
G5 kernel panic11 Jun 2008 04:30 GMT21
My dual @ 1800 G5 has over the past few weeks gone down with kernel
panics, the last one when it had been sitting idle for about an hour. (!)
I'm looking into a replacement, but I am also wondering if it could be a
result of having two internal drives.
iPhone - app dev11 Jun 2008 03:12 GMT2
i read on wired's coverage yesterday that iPhone 2 uses the same
kernel as macs. anybody know if this is true?
also, can one write & compile iPhone apps on a win machine? or is the
compiler mac-only? just curious.
Strategy for replacing a hard disk on an iMac11 Jun 2008 02:00 GMT22
I have an iMac G5 (PowerPC) that is about three years old. Recently the
hard disk (250GB) slowed to a crawl, and it became essentially unusable.
So step one, I ran DiskWarrior on it to see if I could rebuild the
directory, but after getting the "slowdown due to disk malfunction"
OS X 10.5.3 & Safari10 Jun 2008 15:49 GMT7
I installed the updated sys software and the updated Safari on my
MacBook. Now, Safari will not launch. Any ideas why and how can I get it
to launch?
