cron not reading tab26 May 2008 00:06 GMT23
My crontab didn't run again last night. This is on a 10.5.2 server.  I
checked /var/log/system.log for the expected error and it wasn't there.
Root's crontab did run.  Permission are the same.  It has run before.
Originally I had this set to run my personal calendar program at ...

Time discrepancy II25 May 2008 18:47 GMT3
The new PRAM battery arrived yesterday, is full and installed correctly
(polarity).
Still Date & Time preferences (DTP) won't use my timezone (Amsterdam).
It defaults back to GMT after setting the time(zone) correctly. GMT is
HP printer and Airport Extreme25 May 2008 18:24 GMT4
I've networked a G4 desktop, an ibook, and an HP C4180 printer
using an Airport Extreme. At first, I attached the printer directly to
the desktop computer and shared it. That worked fine, but the desktop
had to be always powered up in order to print from the laptop.
Why do my new folders show up in the "basement"?25 May 2008 18:16 GMT55
When I create a new folder, sometimes it shows up waaaay down at the
bottom of the window -- far below any of the other contents of the
window. Sometimes happens when I drag something from one location to
another, closed, folder, too.
The Proper Etiquette of Cross-Posting--Is There Any?25 May 2008 04:56 GMT13
The title of this posting pretty much sums it up. Are there times when
cross-posting is acceptible? Are there times when it is not? Is there an
acceptable limit to the number of cross postings?
In my own case the newsreader I use, Hogwasher, allows one to create
iMovie won't start up24 May 2008 20:42 GMT9
Sorry ... this sounds like the stupidest question on the face of the
earth, but I just want to make sure I'm not missing something. I was
messing around with iMovie for pretty much the first time. Quit. Now
it refuses to restart. I'm using a MacBook with OS X 10.5.2.
tcsh in X1124 May 2008 14:47 GMT5
Sorry if this is a newbie question, but this is my first mac (macbook pro).
Two questions actually - about X11.
1.  How can I set my default shell to be tcsh instead of bash?
2.  When I start X11 and a window pops up, the path looks like this:
Side by side, but they behave differently..24 May 2008 00:43 GMT5
I have described this problem before in this newsgroup, but it is
still baffling me: I have two G4s which each has an Airport Extreme
card fitted. Both suffer from the same problem, tho' the one, an iBook
far more than the other, an aluminium Powerbool. The problem is that
Cleaned Keyboard--Now Some Keys Won't Work23 May 2008 21:56 GMT22
I spilled some tea on my iMac keyboard earlier this evening.  I removed
some of the keys and removed the bottom cover to clean it.  I then put it
back together but now I find that some of the keys don't work (the diagonal
which includes the - [ ' and right-hand Shift).
Backup question23 May 2008 20:26 GMT6
Is there any app smart enough to recognize that the file name has
changed but the file contents have not so it just changes the file name
thereby saving huge amounts of time?  This is very useful when renaming
or reorganizing large amounts of files from time to time.
Super Duper in MacFormat magazine23 May 2008 19:24 GMT63
I noticed that the CD that comes with MacFormat magazine has a copy of
Super Duper 2.5 on it. Does anyone know if this is the free version or the
paid version (with scheduling capabilities)?
Boot camp23 May 2008 19:22 GMT13

Time discrepancy23 May 2008 19:19 GMT26
Yesterday I wanted to adjust the system time, because it was off a bit.
I have not set it to adjust automatically. So, I set the time correctly
in system preferences. Today, I booted my Mac and noticed it was two
hours early (GMT). I'm on GMT+2 (Amsterdam).
