I just downloaded a MIDI file to my desktop from a web site with Safari and wanted to Get Info on it to see when it was created. I pressed Command-I without noticing I was still in Safari, not the Finder, and that's how I discovered that this is the keyboard shortcut for a command

I find the my laser printer (Samsung) always prints the last page first on a 2 page job. Is it possible to print the 1st page first? What also is odd is that in the Preview area it says 1 of 1 but its 2 pages. ??

| Changing "Short Name" in Accounts Preferences | 29 May 2008 17:17 GMT | 19 |
Hi. I have a G4 Cube I want to sell. It's running OS 10.4.11. Before I sell it, I want to change the Name of my Account so it's more generic, instead of using my name. I went into System Preferences and selected Accounts. I was able to successfully change the Name field.

| Dumb Question | 29 May 2008 17:10 GMT | 3 |
Someone said there are no dumb questions -- only dumb answers. About a month ago, I used the 'Rules' in Mail.app to do an automatic response -- something simple like: "I'll be away from my office until Thursday, May 8."

New to the group. I have searched through the various mac related groups and only come across a couple of old posts on this topic (2006). So please accept my apologies if this subject has been done to death already. I just got my first Mac (24" intel with leopard) recently and am ...

| Possible to determine if anyone is using the Finder from the shell? | 29 May 2008 03:53 GMT | 7 |
In the middle of the night, I want to determine if anyone is sitting at a Mac and if they are not and have not been recently, I want to kill the open applications and shutdown the Mac (for energy conservation). If there are open files (`lsof -u macuser` or

| X11 (X-windows) on Darwin | 28 May 2008 22:48 GMT | 3 |
Despite the lack of Darwin-specific traffic on c.s.m.s, and for archival reference, I am hoping for some insight on the state of X-11 implementations for Darwin, independent of OS-X. I have Darwin 8.0.1 ppc installed from the binary distribution

| Cleaned Keyboard--Now Some Keys Won't Work | 28 May 2008 20:14 GMT | 22 |
I spilled some tea on my iMac keyboard earlier this evening. I removed some of the keys and removed the bottom cover to clean it. I then put it back together but now I find that some of the keys don't work (the diagonal which includes the - [ ' and right-hand Shift).

| Why no Usenet N.G. for Darwin? | 28 May 2008 16:21 GMT | 9 |
I am sadly surprised by the lack of a Darwin or even OS-X specific N.G. The name of this N.G. is the closest to being on-topic for discussing details of this O/S, but there seems to be little technical traffic here. Has no one seen fit to newgroup an alt

| Text file format | 28 May 2008 14:55 GMT | 4 |
I have used Text Wrangler to change the character coding and line ends of some documents that I have imported from Windows systems but which did not display correctly in Text Edit. I saw lot of options, and decided to look at a OS X generated text
