Mac Fans,
I'm a MacBigot from way back - got off the bandwagon in 1994 with the
PowerPC and the native/non-native mode swapping that turned using a
Mac into russian roulette . . . I've been a BSD and Linux person

   I've had my older G5 iMac connected to the wired port on a D-Link
DSL-2540B modem/router/firewall for a while. The speed for my 6MByte
DSL connection always seemed a little sluggish. I also have a Linksys
WAP54G wireless access point connected to the same router/modem and

The title describes the problem.
When I choose "New Finder Window" from the File menu of the finder -
no window is created. Same thing if I right-click and choosoe new
finder window from the Finder Dock icon.

Can anyone direct me to a tutorial that describes how to
setup an iMac for video chat/conferencing?

Dropped old Zip100 drive. I could hear it working and the light lit up,
but the computer wouldn`t recongnize it.
Bought new (used) Zip250 drive thinking it was the drive, itself, that

In Solaris, I believe that this can be done with ifconfig as in:
  touch /etc/hostname.en0
  ifconfig en0 dhcp stop

Periodically I run "Repair Disk Permissions" on my wife's computer and

Hello - when I try to empty the trash (Leopard), I´m left with a O byte
alias called "°ÄCi". Dragging it to the trash from the trash (!)
empties it. Small, but irritiating. I´ve fixed permissions and run
DiskWarrior but it´s still there. Can anyone help figure out what´s
