I have a friend who persists in placing all his personal files on the desktop. I remember in the bad old days of Dos 3.1 there was a limit to the number of files held in the root directory, and I wondered if there was any similar restriction in the Mac OS.

"The disk "xyz" is in use and could not be ejected. "Try quitting applications and try again. [sic]" But the disk, an external FW mirrored raid, is not in use, locally or on the network. Only the Finder is running. Logging out doesn't help;

It is part of the keystroke for ForceQuit (Blue Apple menu). BTW, holding Shift while selecting ForceQuit will FQ the current ap.

Printing with my Epson 7600 printer driver stopped suddenly. The file to be printed would appear briefly in the 7600 printing window, and then disappear. Since then, I have repeatedly had trouble opening Printer Setup Utility
