I just got a free hp 5L laserjet printer. I have an iMac, OS 10.4.11. I know I can get a USB-parallel cable for about $13. Can I get a driver that will work, and is it worth it? I just need a reliable printer to print out non-demanding documents.

Last century, I had a Power Centre macintosh which, if I recall, came with MacOs 7.1 (circa 1996). In this mac, there was a Sound control panel which let me force the sound out of the built-in speaker even if there was something plugged

I am using OS 10.3 why can I not get my text in Microsoft Word for X service release 1 to speak under the word menu sub cammand services ? It is grayed out. I can get the text to speak with Texedit. Do I need to turn on something somewhere?

I would like Finder to have the same behavior in regards to the menu bar as does DVD Player when in full screen mode. That is, the menu bar appears based upon the position of the cursor, sliding down from the top in a manner similar to how the dock can be configured to slide up ...

I was running the latest Tiger Mac OS, and had 3 Users on the machine. A few days ago, I had only two users. But, yesterday, I used Migration Assistant to move over an additional user. So, I had 3 working users on Tiger.
