impossible to do anything in this user account.  Other user accounts on
same machine are OK.

Freezing Desktop in OS X 10.5.206 Mar 2008 23:06 GMT20
A good friend of mine is running Leopard on her pre-Intel laptop. Things will
be going fine and then all of a sudden the desktop "freezes". When this
happens only the cursor is active, all of the desktop icons can neither be
moved or activated. A reboot restores the desktop to ...

So, any guesses as to whether today's announcements will be enough to
convince Nortel to support the iPhone?

Mac Pro memory risers proprietary?06 Mar 2008 17:45 GMT11
Does anybody know if the 2 memory risers in the Mac Pro are generic or
are they an Apple proprietary item?  And can you run the computer with
just one memory riser?  4 x 2gb sticks would still give 8gb or would you
lose some dual channel operation advantage?
Keeping Time Accurate?06 Mar 2008 17:43 GMT23
Are there any terminal scripts or free apps that will keep the system
time synced to the official atomic clock?

Thanks much in advance!,
disable or change Power key?06 Mar 2008 17:00 GMT9
Our users seem to have developed a habit of dragging their arm across
the edge of the keyboard such that they hit the Power key and then hit
the number pad Enter key and shut down the machine.
Is there any way to either disable this key or change the behavior so
Time Capsule report06 Mar 2008 15:23 GMT29
I got a Time Capsule today; I called the closest Apple store, which had
some in stock, and they held one for me.
When I got there a few hours later, they had only it and one other left.
I think that they had only three or four to begin with, though.  All
Library folder with wrong permissions.06 Mar 2008 15:14 GMT14
The folder/directory "Library" which is System/Library, is locked up
tight. It either happened during a system update, or while installing
Office.
Repairing permissions from an external disk won't fix it.
Location of the Apple Dictionary file(s)06 Mar 2008 07:32 GMT10
I have added a lot of custom words to the Apple dictionary. I have
hunted all around the 'net trying to find the location of the custom
dictionary contents, but without any success.
Can anyone direct me to where the custom words are stored and (if

Eject arrows/buttons in the finder?06 Mar 2008 06:48 GMT16
Since upgrading to the latest version of Leopard on my Intel iMac those eject
buttons in the Finder have disappeared. I was wondering if this is just a
problem with my computer or a bug in OS 10.5.2?

Laser printer in a home enviroment06 Mar 2008 05:15 GMT70
My laser printer died recently, and I am debating getting a usb $150
replacement laser, or just using my HP all-in-one inkjet for all my
printing.  I am weighing the cost of ink versus the life cycle of the
toner and the longevity of the current generation low end lasers.
Mac Drawing/sketching program recommendations?06 Mar 2008 05:03 GMT11
I like drawing out designs of things freehand with pencil and paper but
eventually I need to transfer them to the computer.  My artistic skills
are abysmal so I need something very basic.  Any recommendations?  The
designs are all straight lines, no curves, if that makes any ...
Network monitoring tool06 Mar 2008 02:34 GMT5
Is there any software to monitor and log incoming and outgoing packets
for the Mac that is simple to use and doesn't require compiling from
source code?
I just need something that would tell me who was downloading or
Tiger front row effect in Leopard06 Mar 2008 02:24 GMT1
When starting Front Row in Tiger, the desktop not only fades away, but
pulls back. In Leopard, it just fades away. Is there any way to make the
Front Row startup in Leopard work the way it does in Tiger?
