Need PCI USB Card for Beige G3 OS 9.110 Mar 2008 18:04 GMT3
I bought a Belkin USB 2.0 and Firewire PCI card, but I can't get it to
work. I downloaded USB drivers, but no go. Can someone with a similar
Mac suggest a card that *would* work?
TIA!
LaCie disk software10 Mar 2008 16:45 GMT17
I just got back from the Apple Store where I bought a LaCie big extereme
+ hard drive.  I really considered the same sized Time Capsule, but
money was an issue and I already had a router.
I was going to back up my wife's year old 256G iMac and my 500G iMac and

Open an folder, Crash the Finder (Leopard 10.5.2)10 Mar 2008 05:31 GMT30
Since a few months ago, when new features were added to the Finder,
it's possible for the Finder to crash upon opening a folder.  I believe
Finder crashes when it encounters a problem while trying to display a
preview icon for a file.
Time in Buenos Aires10 Mar 2008 04:17 GMT1
It appears that the time zone information for Buenos Aires Argentina is
incorrect on my system, 10.5.2.  The Worldclock widget is telling me that
it is currently 22:48 there, while a person on the phone is telling me
that it is 23:48.
Resedit question10 Mar 2008 01:01 GMT29
I there a OS-X native version of Resedit ?
before you all pounce on me and tell me that new applications don't use
resource forks anymore, I still need to use it from time to time.
For one thing, I have a customised keyboard layout and I am able to use
My scanner issue again (sorta)10 Mar 2008 00:41 GMT19
Before you lose your minds about this one, I've got one more question and
hopefully some advice will help before I dive into the black zone of the
pool.
Mac Pro with 10.5.2 and I've used BootCamp (spelling? as caps can piss people
What Application is "krb5kdc"?10 Mar 2008 00:33 GMT4
On two Intel Macs running latest Leopard I get the message "Do you
want the application 'krb5kdc' to accept incoming network connections?"
What in hell is "krb5kdc"?

re spotlight not searching whole drive (Michelle)09 Mar 2008 23:21 GMT3
Hi, sorry but my Thunderbird seems to have lost the thread about this,
hence new thread.
Michelle, thanks for the explanation. I filed a 'bug report', hopefully
there will be a few more filed about that.
RAID:  Read/Write Throughput Pretty Much Proportional to Number of Drives?09 Mar 2008 22:29 GMT3
Is the throughput from the Mac Pro's RAID system pretty much
proportional to the number of drives hanging off the RAID card?
Alternatively, are there ... parasitic factors that degrade that
proportion substantially?
Best way to migrate from one Mac to another exact same model?09 Mar 2008 19:55 GMT32
I'll shortly have two 2.8GHz iMacs in the house, the newest being a
replacement for the replacement (which is sitting on my desk right now).
Yes - that's right. Apple have given me two lemons in a row. That or
these iMacs and/or Leopard are just so spectacuarly bad I'll never see
Scanners for OS X09 Mar 2008 16:19 GMT23
So I'm looking for a scanner for my Mini and was wondering if anyone
knows of websites that have recently compiled compatible USB scanners
for OS X 10.4 and 10.5.  And if I don't need color scanning, would my
field of possibilities be much wider?  Forgive the nuubieness of these
Spotlight Question09 Mar 2008 15:42 GMT7
Very pleased to see that I can easily get the search function to
restrict to filenames again in 10.5 but it seems to have lost the
ability to search half my disk. Does anyone know how to get it to search
everything? It seems to be quite restricted by default, even not showing
