DHCP Client: DNS servers not showing up but working14 Mar 2008 01:20 GMT3
On Tiger 10.4.11, if I set the Network to use DHCP to set its
parameters, it gets them from a VMS server.
In the systems preference panel:
It gets the IP, Subnet mask, and default router, but does not fill out
Strange Bluetooth happenings14 Mar 2008 00:23 GMT10
Every month or two, the computer stops responding to the Bluetooth mouse
and keyboard.  The easiest way I've found to fix the problem (until it
happens again, that is) is to plug in a USB mouse, and use it to switch
to another user.  That gets the BT mouse and keyboard working ...
Why is OS X Mail constantly losing my mail?13 Mar 2008 23:55 GMT16
This is really aggravating.  I use 10.4.11 Mail with POP servers and
once a message has been downloaded I expect to find it later.  But once
in a while single or groups of messages (always old ones) are not
available.  Some italicized messages says they need to be downloaded.
Spotlight doesn't turn up everything it should.13 Mar 2008 22:25 GMT4
I'm running Leopard on this new Mac, and I notice not every item with
given criteria comes up on a Spotlight search. For instance the
Normal.dotm file gnerated by Word 2008. It's there, but when I search
it, it doesn't show up. I have to manually go find it. Why is
Viewing a pdf on an iPod touch13 Mar 2008 22:18 GMT1
I would like to be able to view .pdf files on my iPod touch, but when I try
to do so I get a message that the file cannot be viewed. And example file is
<<http://www.capmac.org/newsletters/CapMac_Offline-2008-03 .pdf>.
What can I do so that I could see this file in an iPod touch?
Synchronising multiple Macintosh13 Mar 2008 22:02 GMT3
I was wondering just how experienced Macintosh users go about keeping
personal files synchronised over multiple Macintosh? My syncing between
my main system (iMac) and my portable (old Powerbook) is very rough, as
I haven't been travelling much over the past few years. I want to ...
Any way to install a later "build" of 10.5.2 over 10.5.2 "GM"?13 Mar 2008 18:34 GMT13
Hi all...
My 10.5.2 load set is based on the 10.5.2 GM -- 9C31.
We got a new MacBook Pro that has 10.5.2 9C2028 -- a later build of
10.5.2 (containing the CD/DVD Sharing among other stuff...)
Better Program for iPod than iTunes for Windows?13 Mar 2008 16:30 GMT16
Is there a better program than iTunes for my iPod Nano?
?Limit Time Machine size w/o partitioning?13 Mar 2008 16:22 GMT5
Is there a way in _software_ to limit the maximum size of a Time Machine
backup, rather than partitioning a hard drive? Perhaps some secret
'write defaults...' command? As a founding signatory to the Icon
Non-Proliferation Treaty, I'd like to limit the number of volume icons
Keyboard Firmware Update 1.0 -- Continuously13 Mar 2008 15:11 GMT6
About the last five times I have run Software Update on my MB Pro,
Keyboard Firmware Update 1.0 has shown up and I have installed it -- or
I think I have. After the installation, when SW Update runs again, it
does not show. But the next time SW Update runs, Keyboard Firmware
Aperture & iPhoto13 Mar 2008 12:58 GMT7
Recently I purchased Aperture because I thought it would meet my needs
better than iPhoto which came with my Mac when I purchased it.
However, I can see that although Aperture appears to be an excellent program
for professionals and advanced amateurs, I am neither. It is going to ...
static nfs mounting13 Mar 2008 10:44 GMT5
I have a NAS in my network that provides disk space via NFS for a
number of boxes in my network, mostly running Linux with the exception
of one MacMini running MacOSX 10.4. On the Mac I used Netinfo to
configure mounts for the NFS volumes on the NAS.
Has someone tested WinXP SP3 (Beta) under BootCamp or VmWare Fusion?13 Mar 2008 09:35 GMT5
Dear friends:
Has someone tested WinXP SP3 (Beta) under BootCamp or VmWare Fusion?
Yes, I know that it is a Beta product up to now (a Release Candidate
2, RC2), but when it gets its release date, it will be (automatically)
