How to tell if OS 9 disc is model specific?22 Feb 2008 05:44 GMT4
I'm thinking of looking for a copy of 9.0.4 (or thereabouts) to
"upgrade" my SheepShaver "classic" installation to the latest
compatible version of OS 9.  It appears they can be found on Ebay
every now and then.  How can one tell by looking at the disc in
Migration22 Feb 2008 02:34 GMT2
My employer just got me a black MacBook, which I'm pretty excited
about. It's running OS 10.5.2. Once I had done minimal set-up, I used
Migration Assistant to move everything from my iBook G4. It worked,
but now I have two accounts that I have to log into separately.

I'm running OS 10.4 on a G4. My system is crashing several times a day
at the Finder level. It seems to happen mostly when trying to open or
copy a file from a folder on the desktop and especially when trying to
access one of my external hard drives. The only way to recover is to

Vanishing USB devices21 Feb 2008 14:08 GMT11
Using an Intel 1.5ghz with 10.4.11.  When I restart or sleep the
computer frequently USB devices are not detected.  By unplugging and
then plugging them in again in a different plug on the hub usually
detects them.  I tried plugging directly into the Mini and it was the

money cannot buy happiness21 Feb 2008 01:21 GMT16
Can money buy our happiness?? Though you feel stationary, you know the
earth is spinning on its axis. Your mind knows that movement of the
sun is an illusion, and that in truth you are moving.money does not
buy happiness or love.
Setup RAID after system install20 Feb 2008 23:54 GMT4
