New iMac models?28 Feb 2008 15:43 GMT24
OK this could be a stretch, but...
Apple just dropped their refurb iMac prices further and moved iMacs to
the top of the page. So they have a lot of excess inventory they want
to get rid of.
Cron to Launchd migration not working28 Feb 2008 15:09 GMT4
I have a Mac Mini whose job is to back up various online sites.
When it was running Tiger, it ran various scripts launched by cron to do
the job. Nobody would be logged into the system and the scripts would
fire at their assigned times.

Wondering if anyone here has tried one of those USB wireless broadband

new MacBook and don't feel like pulling out the plastic every time I
stop at Starbucks. :)

I come to you in the hopes that you can clear up an issue I'm having
running Vista on my Macbook Pro with Leopard.   I installed Vista this
morning and there are issues with the sound, display and volume/
brightness/eject buttons on the top row.  This is a 64bit version of
search and rescue28 Feb 2008 00:56 GMT2
I remember an old app I used in OS 9 and before, called search and rescue.
http://gunther.smallroomsoftware.com/view.php/page/SearchAndRescue
It could rescue data from ram, and had an extension as well to make it
less likely you'd lose data just by launching it and using it.
MacBook Pro doesn't like waking up28 Feb 2008 00:56 GMT7
I frequently put my MacBook Pro to sleep by closing the lid.  Often -
but not always - when I open the lid, it makes a noise like the disk
waking up, but the screen stays dark.  I can't find the right buttons
to push to make it light up, and usually I end up doing a hard reboot.

And, I'm about to purchase a NEW Mac. (3 Macs...MAIN, OTHER and NEW)

x11 (xterm) does not start, no window appears27 Feb 2008 22:18 GMT8
I have Leopard and I installed X11 from the Leopard installation DVD.
So, I can just type xterm in the terminal, and it will start X11 and
xterm, right? But it doesn't work here. It's a fresh Leopard
installation. When I type xterm nothing happens. When I look at top it

started "Airport Utility", and it asked me to update the firmware
which I okayed. Then it couldn't find my router anymore, even after I
File Recovery...HELP!27 Feb 2008 17:40 GMT4
I was trying to backup one of the folders on my MacBook (OS 10.4), but
instead of copying from the Mac to the external HD, I did the reverse,
and ended up with an older version of everything on my Mac (and lost
some of the files).
