Printing from Mac on a Laserjet on a networked PC.05 Feb 2008 19:14 GMT1
I have two computers - a Dell PC running Windows XP and an iBook running
MacOS 10.3.2. Both are connected wirelessly to a Netgear router, which
in turn connects to my ISP for internet access. I am a total novice on
matters of device and file sharing between these computers.
Help, my MacBook Pro is getting overwhelmed (long)05 Feb 2008 18:53 GMT49
What I wanna do is to get some of my larger Leopard
app's OFF of my MacBook Pro.
Leave big app's at home on a desktop Mac, where they
belong, and operate them remotely from my MacBook.

Stop having to do the authentication check in OS X?05 Feb 2008 15:39 GMT33
I am running Mac OS 10.3 and am the only user (administrator) on the
computer. Is there a way that I can avoid the
"blank could not be moved because blank cannot be modified? Or some
such message with the authentication or ok buttons to choose from.
Need to change font size in a pipe line05 Feb 2008 14:48 GMT1
This is for you Unix geeks.  I run Uwin on a PC and it has a program
called atp which would change alpha to postscript.  I would nroff a file
and pipe it to atp to adjust it to fit on a page.
Now I am porting my software to the Mac and my output is about 100
When people say Leopard is problematic...05 Feb 2008 02:45 GMT250
I am glad Leopard works great for some people and I actually know lots
of people having major performance boot after upgrading to Leopard
regardless of their hardware.
I understand people having such a good OS upgrade get confused when
Wonder where your disk space goes?  Look at this.05 Feb 2008 02:11 GMT101
With all the things that iTunes does nowadays with respect to music,
movies (downloads and rentals now), iPhone activation and syncing, I
was curious as to the size of the program package in the Applications
folder.  I didn't expect that it would weigh in at a whopping ~120MB!
Useful (?) message in Console04 Feb 2008 21:25 GMT3
I am just posting this for amusement. I don't need to do anything about
it.
But, looking at the Console log, I have found several lines saying
The file name for this data might be (or it might not) ...
Finding documents with strings04 Feb 2008 20:44 GMT9
I'm used to doing this quite a bit under Windows - searching for
documents (including source code) that contain a string.   I usually
look for strings within a file description (such as *.html) for a
directory and subdirectories.

MacBook Air Requires Custom Install Disk
If you were hoping to use the MacBook Air installer disks to install
Leopard on any other Mac computer you can forget it. The installer
will prevent the software from being installed on any other Macintosh
Emptying Mail's boxes04 Feb 2008 19:04 GMT6
A few days ago, I posted an Applescript that empties mail's sent, trash,
and junk mailboxes.  A few people suggested that I only had to set those
boxes to empty daily instead, and wouldn't need to run the script.  So I
tried that.
DMG security04 Feb 2008 15:39 GMT4
I created a .DMG file for my work documents, but told it to remember
the password.   I guess that's not very secure - how do I tell it to
require me to use the password when I mount it?

Macheist - what's the point?03 Feb 2008 23:53 GMT2
So there has been a lot of contreversy about whether MacHeist is good
or bad for developers (i.e. they people that run it exploit developers
and use it to fund a lavish lifestyle - Ferraris, cociane, hookers
etc.)
