Strange Firefox Problem13 Dec 2007 18:56 GMT4
When I try to start Firefox I get a message saying that a copy of
Firefox is already open.  And I am unable to open the browser.  I
trashed everything on my computer with Firefox except the profile
folder.  Cleared all the caches with Main Menu.  Restarted computer.
Deleting network preferences13 Dec 2007 18:47 GMT2
I'm having trouble with my network setup (whenever I try to change
some setting, then press the "Apply now" button, the beachball starts
spinning and I have to force-quit system preferences).
So I was thinking that deleting the network preferences configuration

Tiger built-in unstuffer?13 Dec 2007 14:06 GMT16
For years, I've used StuffitExpander to unstuff files, and for years
it's been included with Mac OS software installs. From what I've heard,
Apple stopped including it as of Tiger. Now the problem. My brother, a
brand new PC switcher with Tiger, is trying to unzip an
Problem printing barcodes13 Dec 2007 13:14 GMT5
I'm working on an application where a web browser will print barcodes
as part of a store coupon.
Trouble is, the Mac is blurring the bars, and the barcode reader
is having problems reading the printout.

Trying to graph text fields in iWork 08 Numbers.13 Dec 2007 07:04 GMT9
I'm making a spreadsheet to keep a track of beers I've drunk from
around the world in a local bar (drink 150 different types, I get a
plaque on the wall).
So I have a spreadsheet that has progressive numbers from 1 to 150,
Quickie external boot disk question13 Dec 2007 03:55 GMT1
Am I correct in saying that an external boot disk for Mac OS X,
including Leopard, must be Firewire and not USB?  Or can you boot from a
USB external drive?
TIA
re-arranging internal HDDs on G413 Dec 2007 02:20 GMT6
This is an extreme newbie question - I've been using Macs for decades,
but never switched hard-drives around - so thanks in advance for
anyone
who has the patience to explain this to me ... or tell me where to go

Display resolution problem on Mac Mini12 Dec 2007 21:13 GMT1
My first Mac computer. I connected a new Mini to my Sharp Aquos TV
receiver. This is a 1080P TV that has a viewing mode "dot for dot." In
this mode, the Sharp TV does no scaling or cropping of video. It presents
the incoming video without modification. I am using this feature of the
New Cash register layout at Apple Regent Street store12 Dec 2007 21:11 GMT18
The waiting times now are insane. Rather than one long 'bar' that
spans width of the store, with lots of employees on hand to take your
payment so you can get the hell out of there, it's split in two ..
with the two benches being perpendicular to their previous layout.
Problems getting Classic to run on my iMac12 Dec 2007 20:31 GMT2
I just bought an older iMac with OS 10.3.9 installed.  For some reason I
can't get Classic to run on this machine.  I have an older version of
Microsoft Office that I want to use on the iMac.  I've upgraded the OS and
even dropped down to an earlier version, but I get a message ...
Two questions about Boot Camp12 Dec 2007 17:43 GMT9
1) After you've got Windows installed and running under Boot Camp, and
you somehow later need to reinstall OSX (such as your OSX partition gets
hosed), I assume that nothing will happen to your Windows partition. But
how do you tell OSX's Boot Camp where your existing Windows ...
Can't eject iPod Nano12 Dec 2007 16:48 GMT2
When I go to eject my iPod Nano I get the message "The iPod is in use

Furthermore when this happens the iPod displays a picture of a
connector, the message "Connected, Eject before disconnecting" and I
