Cordless phone for least interference with wireless: 5.8 GHz or DECT 1.9 GHz?31 Dec 2007 23:57 GMT4
My old cordless is kaput. It was 2.4 GHz and got static near the
microwave, so I won't really miss it. We are thinking about a wireless
computer network in near future, and should buy the new phone (with
answering machine) with that in mind too.

I have 4 Macs on a primarily PC network using PC Maclan - an iMac running OS9.1.5, an older Mac Power PC running OS 8.5 and recently, because of problems with the older Mac ,which was originall purcahsed to drive an imageseter only, purchased an iMac with OSX 1.5 preinstalled.  I ...
Changing extensions without being warned31 Dec 2007 22:06 GMT23
When I change a file extension in Finder I get a warning (as most of
us do, I expect) of the sort "Are you sure you want to change the
extension from .txt to .html?" And I have to click on "use html".
I find this incredibly annoying. Can it be removed in preferences or
Mac mail security question31 Dec 2007 21:48 GMT7
I got a notice from Mac mail (my .mac account) today that it couldn't verify the
certificate for mail.mac.com. I looked at the certificate and it gave
Verisign as the issuer, then said the cerificate was valid.
That doesn't make sense to me, but I'm not as clued in as I might be
Atmel drivers for MacOS X.3 (WLan)31 Dec 2007 20:58 GMT1
I posted a little while ago about getting an Atmel USB wireless lan
USB adapter (505-2958) working under MacOS 10.3. I've found the
folling links, but being new to the Mac I'd be most grateful if
someone would help me interpret this in to an actual solution:
why does my hp laserjet 2200D make extra black marks?31 Dec 2007 20:30 GMT3
A few weeks ago, suddenly, my hp laserjet 2200D hooked up to my
powerMac suddenly started to print with a lot of unwanted background
"shadows" or dirt.  Is it a problem with my toner cartridge?  Or is it
a problem with my printer?
Is the apple cinema displays an over hyped lcd monitor?31 Dec 2007 19:43 GMT2
Are the Apple cinema display's over hyped lcd monitors? I've been thinking
of buying a new monitor since I've been using a 19 inch samsung 955df crt
monitor for several years, and I am tired of the wear on my eyes. My friend
who happens to have a lcd tells me all lcd's were ...
10.5 picture preview in finder31 Dec 2007 19:32 GMT8
In 10.5's finder, you can click on a pictures link to display jpegs in
the finder window and a resize control appears at the bottom of the
window so you can increase or decrease the size of the icons. Is there
any way to make that style appear in regular windows so you can slide

Installing from a hard drive31 Dec 2007 17:42 GMT4
I want to experiment and install from an external drive so its faster.
If I make a mistake, an erase and install should be a lot faster.  Also,
I want to try taking stuff off the install image to see if it still
functions.
Has this been reported before31 Dec 2007 11:03 GMT36
I have a folder of jpegs that I select for the desktop in System
Preferences. In Jaguar, Panther and Tiger this folder was never
superceded by OS on restart or boot from shutdown. But Leopard always
substitutes its desktop picture for my selected folder on restart or

Leopard Retrospect backup ?31 Dec 2007 01:34 GMT4
My wife just upgraded her Mac to Leopard. Since I haven't and I do the
backups, I have a couple of basic questions if someone has the time.
My Mac OS X 10.4.10.
What is the relative base size of Leopard vs. Tiger?
